Kate Beckinsale has revealed how Pearl Harbour director Michael Bay felt she didn’t fit the body type he was looking for and ordered her to lose weight if she wanted the role. Speaking on ‘The Graham Norton Show’ Beckinsale also said that the director constantly said she was cast because she wasn't “so attractive” during the promotion of the film.

“I don’t think I fitted the type of actress Michael Bay, the director, had met before. I think he was baffled by me because my boobs weren’t bigger than my head and I wasn’t blonde,” Beckinsale said.

Amongst the praise and back-slapping of awards season, the film industry also shows its less serious side once a year. Just a day ahead of the big Oscars reveal, the Golden Raspberry Awards, a ceremony dedicated to showcasing the very worst of the world of the big screen, has announced its list of nominations, and to nobody’s surprise it’s Transformers: Age of Extinction that leads the field.

The fourth instalment of the hugely successful but critically panned Transformers saga, starring Mark Wahlberg and Megan Fox and directed by Michael Bay, has picked up seven nominations in total. They include worst picture, worst director, worst sequel, worst screenplay, worst screen combo (for any two of the fighting robots), worst supporting actress for Nicola Peltz and worst supporting actor for Kelsey Grammer. The former ‘Frasier’ star was also recognised for his roles in The Expendables 3, Think Like a Man Too and Legends of Oz.

Ouija, the low budget horror movie based on the classic Hasbro board game of the same name, has debuted at No.1 on the U.S box office, fending off a surprisingly strong challenge from Keanu Reeves' revenge thriller John Wick.

'Ouija' topped the box-office after pulling in $20 million. It was made on a budget of just $5 million.

The horror movie, aimed at the teen-audience ahead of Halloween, opened to an estimated $20 million - triple its modest budget. It's the latest low-budget horror success from Michael Bay's Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes - the production company behind The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), The Amityville Horror (2005), A Nightmare on Elm Street (2009) and The Purge (2013).

Despite being one of the worst reviewed big-budget movies since...well, since Transformers: Age of Extinction. Michael Bay's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pulled in $65 million on debut to convince the top brass at Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies to green-light an immediate sequel - set for June 3, 2016. Bay will return to produce with writers Josh Appelbaum and Andrew Nemec back on board to pen the script.

After the poorly received TMNT movie managed to claw at a box office victory this weekend ($65 million domestic, according to Box Office Mojo), Paramount are expanding their investment in a big way. The studio has just announced that they’re turning Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles into a franchise – appropriate, since that’s director Michael Bay’s specialty these days.

The turtles will return in 2016, but is it a good thing?

Besides the CGI-powered dinosaurs that the movie presents as Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael, the sequel also stars Megan Fox and Will Arnett. The sequel has been assigned a projected release date of June 3, 2016.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes looks epic. The story, the action and the special effects set the stage for a movie of fantastic proportions. But there are only two prominent female figures to at least 10 main male characters, both ape and human alike. In the ape world, the woman is Caesar’s wife, giving birth and feeling unwell afterwards for most of the movie. In the human world, we have one woman in a five-strong male group who are daring to enter into the carefully constructed world of the apes.

The first movie, 2007's Transformers actually had a fairly strong critical reaction, earning a 57% positive rating from critics and a whopping 86% from audiences. There has been a significant drop for both critics and audiences for the three sequels: 2009's Revenge of the Fallen pleased only 19% of critics and 58% of the audience, followed by 2011's Dark of the Moon with 36% critics and 56% audience, and this summer's Age of Extinction is at 17% critics and 58% audience.

A new full length trailer for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot has rolled out online, showing the heroic reptiles stepping up their battle with the armoured villain Shredder. The movie stars Megan Fox as newsreader April O'Neil and Will Arnett as cameraman Vernon Fenwick.

A 90s kid’s typical Saturday morning is coming to the big screen next year. With Paramount and Nickelodeon teaming up on a feature-length Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, two more flicks based off childhood favorites have been announced.

TMNT is coming soon and two other reboots are right on its heels.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Will Ferrell and Anchorman director Adam McKay are currently working on a new Flintstones animated movie. The script has been handed off to The Campaign scribe Chris Henchy. The original Flinstones series ran between 1960 and 1966 – yes, it really is that old. Most recently, the series was rebooted in two live action films in the 90s. . Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane unsuccessfully attempted to launch a TV series reboot two years ago.

Cowabunga, there’s a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer! Problem is, it’s pretty much the same as the last trailer, but with two very important exceptions. This time we were offered our best look at the individual turtles yet and a sneaky glimpse of Shredder. Anyone who’s been following the developments of the Turtle’s reboot will know that opinion has been very much divided so far. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hits theatres in August

The first trailer did little to ease the minds of those worried about the fate of their childhood heroes in the hands of Michael Bay. It’s clear the movie will feature his trademarks of plenty of explosions and big buildings crashing down, but beyond the action there’s still many questions left unanswered. For fans of the original comic books and television series, it was the look of the turtles themselves which caused the most contention. A glimpse of Michelangelo’s face left many feeling the turtle’s features had been overly humanised and were just too unlike the original drawings. As the trailers show, overall the turtle’s look is very ‘mutant’. They’re overly muscly and actually quite scary sometimes, but it could work as it fits with the movie's seemingly ‘dark' tone.

Michael Bay was attacked during filming for the fourth instalment of the Transformers franchise in Hong Kong, but exactly what happened still remains in doubt. Two conflicting stories have been released describing the event, one from the Hong Kong Police Department, and another from Paramount Pictures - who are financing the film. Surprisingly, none of the reports mention the fact that the attack was done to prevent Bay from making another Transformers movie, which makes this case all the more unusual.

A police spokesperson issued a statement on behalf of the Hong Kong Police Department, via the South China Morning Post, saying that Bay was attacked by two brothers, both with the surname Mak, who owned a shop nearby the set of Transformers 4: Age of Extinction. The statement goes on to say that the pair approached Bay, unarmed, demanding 100,000 HK dollars ($13,000) from the director, and when he refused they both began attacking him. The brothers also allegedly attacked three police officers that were called to the set and who had attempted to assist Bay.

The statement went on say that Bay only suffered minor facial injuries and refused medical assistance, adding that the brothers aged 27 and 28, were arrested and face charges of blackmail, assault and assaulting police officers.

Michael Bay, director of the Transformer's franchise, was reportedly attacked in Hong Kong on Thursday (17th October). The 48-year-old was in Hong Kong filming for the latest Transformers instalment (Age of Extinction) when two brothers apprehended him. The attacking brothers, both with the surname Mak, allegedly demanded Bay them for the inconvenience caused by the shoot. The pair requested HKS$100 000 (approximately $12 900) as their vendor businesses had been suffering owing to filming, according to Reuters.

Bay, writing on his website, revealed further details on the dramatic events. He stated that although the vendors received a "fair price" for any inconvenience caused by the filming, one particular vendor wanted "four times" the amount. When Bay directly informed the man this was unreasonable, the vendor returned and attempted to "smack" Bay in the face with an air conditioning unit. Directing action movies has obviously provided Bay with some training as he was able to duck out of the way and push the angry vendor away.

It might sound like the beginning of one of Michael Bay’s films, in which a pair of nondescript criminals convey the dilapidated nature of said futuristic dystopian city by way of a failed – yet very serious – crime. But, unfortunately, this was real, and Bay was attacked.

The Transformers franchise just keeps on trucking and now, armed with Mark Wahlberg as his leading man, Michael Bay has dreamed up a title for his brand new big-budget action sci-fi. Transformers 4: Age of Extinction. Oh and there's a shiny new poster - check it out below.

This franchise should have been rendered extinct three movies ago, one critic will write in June 2014. The jokes are there. The jokes are obvious, but Bay has decided to dangle a carrot and let the haters gobble up the dinosaur references anyway.

In fact, if some reports are to be believed, prehistoric creatures may well even feature in the movie's plot, though details are yet to be announced. The poster appears to add credence to that theory.

Video game films rarely work, and there’s evidence to support that; Tomb Raider, Silent Hill, Resident Evil – need we go on? This makes Michael Bay’s decision to take the Ghost Recon franchise to the big screen an even bigger task.

But there was a time when superhero films were generally bad, until the Dark Knight trilogy forced them into the modern era. Now we’re living in a world of brilliant Avenger films, high quality Iron Man trilogies and Man of Steel – the Superman film out this Friday, which is already performing well with the critics. Is now the time that video game franchises translate successfully to movie theatres? The film, which is currently in search for a screenwriter, will see Bay hook up with Warner Bros. for the first time. It’s based around a set of highly skilled, futuristic soldiers, but, according to Ubisoft’s CEO, Jean Julien Baronnet, is grounded in reality and a conception of what future warfare will look like. "These guys don't belong to any specific organisation," Baronnet said of the soldiers. "They're in the field where the US troops are not supposed to be. It's a small team with very strong personalities and very specific skill sets. They're using weapons nobody knows about, but it's very grounded. It's not sci-fi."

Video game movies are bandied around every few months; directors and actors are suggested but movement is rarely made. With franchises like Bioshock, Metal Gear Solid and Deus Ex all ripe for film adaptations, here’s hoping that something like Ghost Recon can pave the way for console gamers to see their heroes on the big screen.

Michael Bay is apparently in talks with Warner Brothers and games manufacturers Ubisoft in a potential move to turn Tom Clancy's popular Ghost Recon game series into a movie, with the potential to turn the film into a franchise. Should the project happen it would mark the first time Bay has worked with Warner Bros. before in his entire career.

The news that Bay could help bring Ghost Recon to the silver screen was broken earlier this week by Variety, who went on to say that the big-budget, explosion-loving director is in advanced talks with both companies to bring the Ghost Recon movie into fruition. Ghost Recon is a fictional branch of the US military that essentially works as a private army for the President, using the latest in military technology to travel the world and take down specific targets, whilst also maintaining almost complete invisibility from the rest of the world in their work.

Jean Julien Baronnet, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, went on to describe the role of the fictitious army brigade in a statement given to Variety. He said, “These guys don’t belong to any specific organisation. They’re in the field where the U.S. troops are not supposed to be. It’s a small team with very strong personalities and very specific skill sets," adding that the series is not science fiction, but rather a near-future-set military thriller.

Everyone breathe easy, Dwayne Johnson is recovering after his hernia surgery. The wrestling star was rushed to hospital on Monday and had an emergency operation, but The Rock isn’t one to mope at all. He suffered three hernial tears while wrestling John Cena earlier this month. The debate over the “realness” of wrestling is still ongoing, but Johnson is living proof that you can get some pretty real injuries doing it.

Because of the emergency, Mr Johnson had to miss the premiere of his latest flick – the pretty aptly titled, given the circumstances, Pain & Gain. The flick co-stars Mark Wahlberg and opens across theatres this Friday. Director Michael Bay chided the wrestler for risking his health with the sport. But it looks like The Rock’s wellbeing is no longer in danger and neither is his good mood, as he tweeted a picture of himself in the hospital, flexing in his Superman T-shirt, accompanied by the caption: "Surgery a success! Dr repaired 3 hernial tears (fun pain). Superman is on the mend.. #WeFallWeRise."

A bit over-confident perhaps, but that’s the recovery spirit none the less. Johnson’s publicist, Alan Nierob, revealed for The Associated press that The Rock is now anchored at home, recovering. We’re sure that with Johnson’s rock solid good spirit, the recovery will be a breeze.

Johnson posted a twitpic of himself in a Superman T-shirt in his hospital bed, accompanied by the following caption: "Surgery a success! Dr repaired 3 hernial tears (fun pain). Superman is on the mend.. #WeFallWeRise."

According to E!News, a rep for The Rock stated that the star is now back home and recovering from the operation on Monday night. Yet more proof that you can’t keep the man down for long. The only consequence was that Johnson reportedly missed the Los Angeles premiere of his new film, Pain & Gain. There’s an appropriate title, if we ever did see one. On the premiere’s red carpet director Michael Bay commented that it may be Johnson’s wrestling exploits that are endangering his health. "He was pushing it too hard," Bay told E! News. "[He] needs to grow up and stop wrestling 300-pound men.”

Hold you horses everyone: Michael Bay has NOT apologized for Armageddon. He definitely should, and many believed that he had this week, but the director has since written on a forum claiming that The Miami Herald, whom it looked like he made the comments to, have misquoted him.

The Herald has reported the director, who has upcoming films Pain & Gain and Transformers 4 on the way, as saying “I will apologize for Armageddon, because we had to do the whole movie in 16 weeks. It was a massive undertaking. That was not fair to the movie.” He apparently went onto say, “I would redo the entire third act if I could. But the studio literally took the movie away from us. It was terrible. My visual effects supervisor had a nervous breakdown, so I had to be in charge of that. I called James Cameron and asked ‘What do you do when you’re doing all the effects yourself?’ But the movie did fine.”

However, in a forum post Bay has refuted that he straight-up said sorry for the film, which starred Bruce Willis as an oil rigger who seamlessly transfers these skills to stopping a whacking great asteroid hitting earth. “One press writer has gone too far in reporting false information,” Bay retorted. “He has printed the bare minimum of my statement which in effect have twisted my words and meaning. I'm not in the slightest going to apologize for the third movie in my movie career, a film called Armageddon.”

It’s not often you hear a director saying sorry for a film they’ve made, but that’s exactly what Michael Bay has done. Showing contrition for the disaster of a disaster movie that was Armageddon, Bay told Miami Herald how sorry he is.

Will Bay have to apologize for his next film?

“I will apologize for Armageddon, because we had to do the whole movie in 16 weeks,” he explained. “It was a massive undertaking. That was not fair to the movie. The movie did more than fine really; it actually grossed a ridiculous $550 million (£360 million) worldwide, so the studio won’t really understand the apology – they loved Armageddon! And in any case, many would suggest Bay should be saying sorry for The Transformers films instead.

Guillermo Del Toro has hit back at Michael Bay's perceived insult about his new giant robot movie Pacific Rim. In case you haven't been following the story, Bay - the Transformers director - told audiences at CinemaCon earlier this week that there have been quite a few "rip-off" robot movies and that audiences know better. We think audiences are pretty tuned up enough to know that all of the Transformers flicks have been horrible, but that's just us.

Of course Bay didn't name any titles, though many attending the session assumed he was calling out Pacific Rim. It's plausible that Battleship or Real Steel were the subject of Bay's ire, though with del Toro in town to promote his movie, it's unlikely. Anyway, when told of the director's comments by the Hollywood Reporter, del Toro responded that his movie was totally different than Transformers.  "We are far, far, far away from that in a very willing fashion. For good or bad, this is my movie. This is my universe and my creation, and I do not create through comparison." And then came the dig. 

"The fights don't occur in well-lit, supercool, car commercial-looking environments," del Toro said, "They occur in the middle of a raging sea storm or in a savage snowstorm. They happen in a universe that is incredibly saturated." Ouch.

The Teeange Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie has a new cast member, and, in the most unlikely reconciliation in Hollywood, it’s Megan Fox! She’ll play April O’Neil in the film. Bay announced the news on his website, posting, simply, “TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!”.

Sources explained to The Hollywood reporter that Fox and Bay (possible outwear clothing range?) have buried the hatchet and are ready to work with one another. In 2009 Fox said of Bay: “He’s like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous mad-man reputation. He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he’s a nightmare to work for, but when you get him away from set, and he’s not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he’s so hopelessly awkward.” Fox will be hoping Bay doesn’t stumble upon this quite again while filming.

Forget formulaic romantic-comedies, Judd Apatow's quirky flicks or terrible, terrible movies about Transformers, because Megan Fox is trying something different. The Hollywood actress has signed on for a film version of 1990s big screen hit Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, produced by Michael Bay.

It's a surprising casting, given Fox fell out with the filmmaker during the shooting of the Transformers franchise which led to her axing from the third movie. However, it appears the pair have sorted their differences and agreed that Fox will play reporter April O'Neil - a character originally played by Judith Hoag in the original 1990 movie, Paige Turco in the two sequels and Sarah Michelle Gellar in the 2007 animated version. 

Bay officially announced the news on his official website, "TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!" he wrote on Thursday. According to the Hollywood Reporter, director Jonathan Liebesman was instrumental in persuading Fox to work with Bay once more - a man whom she once referred to as a "tyrant."

Michael Bay has been gushing about his new discovery in the world of acting. On his own website, he’s published a snap of Reynor, accompanied by a statement from the director describing him as a “great new actor.” So who is this Reynor guy and what’s he doing starring alongside Mark Wahlberg in the next Transformers movie?

Reynor was born in the USA but raised in the Republic of Ireland. Aside from a few minor roles in TV movies and short films, it wasn’t until last year’s movie What Richard Did that he got his break. And frankly, that break came mainly because Michael Bay saw it and loved it and decided that he wanted Jack to star in the next instalment of his multi-million dollar Transformers movie franchise.

The statement from Bay read “I just hired a great new actor for Transformers 4 to star against Mark Wahlberg. Jack Reynor, he is an Irish kid that came to America with 30 bucks in his pocket. Prett ballsy. Seriously, who does that? Anyway I spotted him in this great little Irish movie WHAT RICHARD DID. This kid is the real deal.” Before the release of Transformers 4, you’ll be able to catch Jack in Cold later this year and The Delivery Man, which he’s currently filming, alongside Vince Vaughn and Cobey Smulders. Make sure you catch them, so you can talk in great, convincing detail about how you prefer his early work, once the guy gets mega-famous.

Transformers 4 director Michael Bay claims that he’s unearthed an absolute gem to front the next installment of his mega-bucks making franchise, with relative unknown Irish actor Jack Reynor to star opposite Mark Wahlberg in the forthcoming film.

Michael Bay was writing on his official website when he broke the news, enthusiastically explaining “I just hired a great new actor for Transformers 4 to star against Mark Wahlberg. Jack Reynor, he is an Irish kid that came to America with 30 bucks in his pocket. Pretty ballsy. Seriously who does that?” Given the large Irish community that’s settled in America over the last couple of centuries we reckon quite a few Michael. “Anyway I spotted him in a great little Irish movie WHAT RICHARD DID. Except he hadn’t finished, he also wanted to address rumors that Transformers 4 is going to a reboot. It’s not apparently. “This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago. The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different than the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy.” So there you go. The film is expected to be out in the summer of 2014.

Michael Bay’s going back to what he does best with his latest movie Pain & Gain. Starring Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson (‘The Rock’) and Anthony Mackie, the movie finds the director finally unleashed from the world of Transformers and back into a world of action movies and dark humour.

Pain and Gain tells the tale of a ‘gym rat’ who finds himself discontented with his life and plots to steal from a corrupt businessman, with the help of two fellow weight-lifting buddies.The trailer looks pretty neat, a fine blend of action and a sharp comic strip. Oh and Mark Wahlberg, looking distinctly beefy in his role as Daniel Lugo, the frustrated fitness freak. Pain & Gain is based on the story of the Sun Gym Gang - three guys who “robbed and extorted their way around southern Florida in the mid-90s", according to Empire online and the script appears to have been deftly handles by the Chronicles Of Narnia’s Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The story was originally reported on by the Miami New Times journalist Pete Collins, back in 1999. Now, their tale gets the big budget Hollywood treatment, courtesy of Bay.

Also starring Ed Harris and Rebel Wilson, the movie is scheduled for release in April 2013 in the US and May 2013 in the UK. Prepare yourselves for a great deal of hype between now and then!
