Canadian singer Michael Buble has defended Hugh Grant after a U.K. tabloid published an article suggesting a woman cringed as the actor flirted with her on TV.
The Notting Hill star was appearing on German quiz show Wetten, das...? alongside Buble when he put his arm around comedienne Anke Engelke, only for her to squirm at Grant's forward behaviour.
British newspaper the Daily Mail printed images from the show and poked fun at Grant, alleging his popularity with women is waning.
But Buble has defended the Hollywood star, insisting the incident was a set-up.
Speaking on British TV show Loose Women, he says, "I heard you talking about Hugh Grant then about this woman and the unwanted attention. Okay, I did the show with Hugh that night. The show's called Wetten, das..? There were two actors hired, they were German actors, and they were to play barbarian trailer trash. It was an act. So once again, U.K., your newspapers, your tabloid has sold you a lie, a load of c**p to sell their papers."
