Michael Buerk Calls BBC3 "Drivel" And "Cutting-Edge Tripe"

BBC stalwart Michael Buerk has called the recently axed BBC3 "drivel" despite a high profile battle to save the channel. The corporation announced that the channel will be moving online-only in an effort to save £100m - a decision that Buerk is only too happy to back.

Buerk described BB3's offerings "embarrassing" and described the reality show Snog, Marry, Avoid? as "cutting-edge tripe."

Is The 'Marmite' Advert Really Offensive, Or Really Funny? [Video]

A television advert for Marmite, which uses a tongue-in-cheek approach to animal and child neglect, has prompted more than 250 complaints in less than 24 hours.

The TV ad follows a team parodying animal of child welfare officers visiting houses to save and re-home jars of Marmite neglected by their owners. Shot in a documentary style, the company's ad is part of a £2 million campaign and aired during ITV's Coronation Street, sparking a furious debate on Facebook and Twitter.

According to the Guardian, the Advertising Standards Authority received more than 250 complaints that the advert trivializes the work of animal charities and child protection agencies.
