Michael Douglas is proud to be reaching his tenth wedding anniversary.

The 65-year-old 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps' actor - who married actress Catherine Zeta-Jones in 2000 - will celebrate the milestone in his marriage to the Welsh beauty in November and hopes the occasion will finally silence critics who were sceptical about their romance because of their 25-year age gap.

He said: "It isn't bad for 'the couple who were never going to last', right?"

The Oscar-winning star explained the reason the pair have made a success of their marriage is because he thinks it is important to keep Catherine, 40, and the children in touch with their Welsh roots.

He said: "We get back to Wales as often as we can - a minimum of two weeks in the summer. I always have a good time in Wales, it's lovely."

Michael recently revealed he was quite happy being single until he was "bowled over" when he met the 'Entrapment' star.

He explained: "She was a tremendous surprise. I was getting along quite well as a single guy and then I got struck down. I was bowled over by Catherine."
