Glastonbury’s location is as iconic as the festival itself with Worthy Farm playing host to the infamous five-day spectacular since June 1970. Every five years, Glasto has a fallow year to help regenerate the land which is next due in 2018 – however, this time Michael Eavis may have “something special” planned.

The 80-year-old festival founder has explained that life is getting too short for fallow years and seems to instead be hinting that the musical extravaganza could be moving out of Somerset.

Eavis, who gave organisational control of his brain-child to his daughter Emily, said: "I am getting too old and I don’t want to miss out on any festivals.

"I am very proud of what we have managed to achieve over the years. I wake up every morning and get excited just thinking about the festival."

Complications with having the festival permanently on Worthy Farm have been highlighted in the past with Eavis explaining that the gas pipe running through the site often causes problems.

He was quoted in 2015 saying: "Every year they make a fuss about this pipe.

"We’re supposed to stop people dancing on it, which is pretty impossible to do. If the issue does become too tricky the back-up site is pretty sorted."

This year the festival is hosting Muse, Adele and Coldplay as its headliners from 22-26 June.
