Michael Fassbender is seen by many film fans as a gritty, intense and intelligent actor and these characteristics can certainly be attributed to his latest film, Slow West - an action thriller western.

Slow WestFassbender and youngster Kodi Smit-McPhee are two intrepid travellers in Slow West

The German-Irish actor plays lone outlaw Silas who young, rich, out-of-his-depth Scottish Jay Cavendish stumbles upon when travailing the west in search of his lost love, Rose.

Unaware of the laws in a lawless land, Jay is forced to team up with Silas who protects him from bandits and natives and accompanies him on the road.

However, with a bounty lying heavily on Rose’s head, is an ignorant Jay simply leading the captor to the captive?

Directed by Scottish musician-turned-film-maker John Maclean, the title’s use of the word Slow is not entirely misleading.

However, perfect scenery, an excellent Fassbender and the tense traveling of two mismatched companions definitely ensures this film cannot be classed as boring.
