E! have been forced to apologies unreservedly after they listed Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s diagnosis back in 1999 as one of their ‘Fun Facts’ during their online coverage of the Golden Globes. Meanwhile, Fox appeared on the red carpet with his wife Tracy Pollen.

Michael J FoxMichael J. Fox may have found the whole thing funny, but we don't know that

He was nominated for best actor in a comedy for his new NBC show, ‘The Michael J. Fox Show,’ which details the intricacies – both dramatic and comedic – of him living with the disease.

"We regret the insensitive classification of Michael J Fox's Parkinson's diagnosis during our E online live stream," the network said. "We understand the serious nature of the disease and sincerely apologize."

Fox came to prominence when starring in the 1980s sitcom "Family Ties," before leading in the "Back to the Future" trilogy and the hugely popular "Spin City".

Since his diagnosis, which is just a Fact, E! – just a fact – Fox has taken it upon himself to use Parkinson’s to create laughter, most notably in his show, but also in Curb Your Enthusiasm, in which he and Larry David endure a difficult relationship.

The Golden Globes went off last night without a hitch, apart from E!’s minor boob. 12 Years a Slave picked up Best Motion Picture, Leonardo DiCaprio won the Best Performance gong in a comedy for The Wolf of Wall Street and the hosting combo of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler saw the star-studded audience in raptures.
