Nike is ready the launch of a ground-breaking new shoe which has taken inspiration from the hit 80s sc-fi movies 'Back To The Future'.

And no it doesn't involve a hover board, bit it will turn fiction into reality.

The new sneaker is meant to be the first ever that will be able to self-tie, which was first seen in the 1989 sequel 'Back To The Future II'.

Marty McFly, who was played by Michael J. Fox, sported the famous footwear when by at the push of a button his 'power laces' would automatically be tightened and secured.

This feature did save McFly precious seconds before he began to explore what was said to be 2015, and it seems his timing was spot on.

Nike designer Tinker Hatfield was making an appearance at the Jordan Brand's Flight Lab space in New Orleans this past Friday (Feb 14th) when he was asked about the possibility of 'power laces', according to solecollector.com.

His answer may come as somewhat of a surprise.

"Are we gonna see power laces in 2015? To that, I say YES!" said Hatfield.

Back in 2011 Nike did release a copy of the famed 'Back To The Future' footwear which were named Nike MAG. But only 1,500 pairs were auctioned off on eBay with all the proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, and this raised nearly $6million altogether.

It is likely that Nike want to bring out a new model of the shoe to repeat the same success as they did back in 2011 but this time keep the profits, and with the added feature of 'power laces', the sportswear brand must expect these to be big sellers.
