Four years after Michael Jackson's death, the King of Pop's legacy is still growing.

Eight new tracks of Jackson's will be released on a new album this coming May, Epic Records announced Monday (March 31st).

After being granted access to the late singer's material spanning over four decades, LA Reid, Chairman and CEO of Epic Records and the executive producer of the album, found the previously unheard vocal recordings.

Reid, and a team of top producers, have partnered together to "contemporize" the new tracks but still managed to keep Jackson's "essence and integrity," to make the best sounding music as possible.

Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate and John McClain are the globally revered producers who worked on the unreleased music.

Jackson famously died at age 50 from a lethal dose of anesthetic when he was preparing for a sting of comeback performances as part of his 'This Is It' tour.

"Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with," said Reid in the statement.

The title of the album 'Xscape' was chosen by the same process Jackson used, he would pick a song from the album which was only one word long. This began with 1982's hugely successful 'Thriller'.

The song 'Xscape' was co-written and co-produced by Jackson and Jerkins, who also "contemporized" it, the company said.

The Epic press release also included comments from Jackson estate co-executors John Branca and John McClain supporting the album.

"Michael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds," they stated. "He was always relevant and current. These tracks, in many ways, capture that spirit. We thank L.A. Reid for his vision."
