Michelle Dockery, Actress Best Known As Downton Abbey's Lady Mary, Engaged?

Is Lady Mary engaged? Downton Abbey's own Michelle Dockery is reportedly engaged to John Dineen. The couple have been dating for over a year and reports in a British tabloid claim the pair has decided to take the next step - down the aisle! The couple are yet to officially confirm the news but sources claim 33-year-old Dockery showed off her ring to her fellow Downton Abbey actors at a script reading, according to reports in the Mail.

A source, speaking to The Mail Online, claimed Dockery was ecstatic when sharing her news with her fellow cast members. "She's over the moon and was showing it [her engagement ring] off to all of the cast and crew," the source said. "It's wonderful news and everyone is delighted. She and John make a lovely couple."

Dockery, who plays Lady Mary Crawley on Downton Abbey, first started dating Dineen in September 2013. According to reports, Dockery and Dineen met through their mutual friend Allen Leech. Leech plays Dockery's brother-in-law and former chauffer on the hit ITV show. Dineen is reportedly originally from Ireland and currently works in Financial PR.

Dockery is filming season 6 of Downton Abbey which is due to air later this year. Dockery's role in the period drama has forced her into the public eye both in the UK and the US. Although a number of Dockery's fellow Downton Abbey actors have made a permanent movie to the US to pursue a career in Hollywood, Dockery has promised she will stay with the show.

"I love playing Mary, and I love being part of a show that for all of us has been really special. None of us ever imagined how huge a success it would become. Why would I want to leave that?" Dockery said, as the Express reports, when asked about her intentions for the future.
