'You'll Always Be First Lady In Our Lives': Stevie Wonder Sings For Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama Stevie Wonder

Michelle Obama got the treat of a lifetime when one of her favourite musical artists, Stevie Wonder, performed a sensational medley just for her on her last late night television appearance as the First Lady of the United States. It was an emotional moment, but also a very special tribute to an amazing woman.

Michelle ObamaMichelle Obama gets a special song from Stevie Wonder

Stevie Wonder performed a medley of his iconic hits 'Isn't She Lovely' and 'My Cherie Amour' in a piano session on 'The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon' last night (January 11th 2017), but changed a few of the words to reflect his feelings on Michelle Obama.

Michelle Obama Talks Beyonce, Melania Trump And Barack Impressions On The Late Show

Michelle Obama

It's getting ever closer to the 2016 US Presidential Election, where we'll tearfully bid farewell to the coolest President America has ever seen, as well as his accomplished First Lady Michelle Obama. She took to the 'Late Show With Stephen Colbert' on Tuesday night (September 20th 2016) where pure hilarity ensued.

Michelle ObamaMichelle Obama calls Melania Trump's speech 'tough'

Michelle Obama discussed everything from her global initiative to educate girls all over the world (Let Girls Learn) to the Melania Trump controversy. As it turns out, Michelle has 'no sympathy' for the spouses of the presidential candidates, even in the case of Donald Trump's wife who was blasted for plagiarism when she lifted much of Michelle's 2008 address for her Republican National Convention speech.

Just How Much Of Melania Trump's Speech Was Taken From Michelle Obama?

Michelle Obama Melania Trump

Well, this is awkward. There seems to have been some fraudulent behaviour going on within American politics as an inspiring speech made by Michelle Obama eight years ago seems to have been half stolen by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's wife Melania Trump for her Republican national convention address last night (July 18th 2016).

Michelle ObamaMichelle Obama's speech gets totally ripped off

Whoever the Trumps have got on the payroll to write their speeches needs to be fired, stat. Or given a medal for making Donald Trump look more of a fool than he already is. I mean, it's a pretty good idea to take inspiration from one of America's most popular woman - First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama - but to take her speech verbatim isn't the smartest move in a generation ruled by the internet.

Michelle Obama Cara Delevingne Angelina Jolie

There are certain times when celebrities should and shouldn’t get involved with important issues. Alicia Silverstone’s ‘parenting’ book, David Bowie’s strange outburst concerning Scottish independence at the Brit Awards and Jared Leto discussing Ukraine and Venezuela during his Oscar acceptance speech are all pretty good examples of when it’s probably wise to discuss something they actually know about.

Michelle Obama BringBackOurGirls First Lady Michelle Obama has used her Twitter account to raise awareness of the kidnapping

However, celebrities worldwide have teamed together to help raise awareness for one very important current issue. Nearly a month ago around 270 school girls were kidnapped from their boarding school in Nigeria by Islamist militants. A few were able to escape, but most of them were smuggled into the Sambisa forest, where it is feared they will be sold into sex slavery and trafficked to other countries.

So, What Did Michelle Obama And Jimmy Fallon Talk About?

Michelle Obama Jimmy Fallon

If you’ve been watching House of Cards recently, you’ll have the impression that every media appearance by a personal of political influence is a meticulously planned affair. (Oh Claire Underwood, that was a risk). And they are. But watching Michelle Obama breeze onto The Tonight Show to have a chat with Jimmy Fallon, and you’d be forgiven for thinking they asked her at the last minute.

With her usual charm and charisma, The First Lady spoke about her two kids - Malia and Sasha - and how all they want is to live normally, without their father – the most famous man in the world – coming to their school. "They want nothing to do with us," she said, laughing. "They really want normalcy and the White House isn't normal," she explained. "I'll say 'Don't you want to invite your friends over to watch a movie?' She's like, 'No one wants to come here.'"

Though 800,000 fans of her father President Barack Obama were packed into Capitol Hill on Monday afternoon (January 21, 2013), young Sasha Obama's yawn became the couple of seconds of video that made the most impression online. The 11-year-old clearly wasn't overawed by the occasion of her father's second inauguration and seemed like she'd had just about enough.

Twitter lit up with excitement over Sasha's apparent boredom at the whole spectacle, with one user, Casey Turner, saying, "Literally every time Sasha Obama is on screen, she isn't paying attention to anything and I really, really love that about her." Sasha and sister Malia - who were also seen playing on their iPhones - seemed to be having much more fun on Saturday, listening to songs like Teenage Dream by Katy Perry at the inauguration ceremony. In a White House news conference last week, President Obama said, "Now that my girls are getting older, they don't want to spend that much time with me anyway, so I'll be probably calling around, looking for somebody to play cards with me or something, because I'm getting kind of lonely in this big house."

During his inauguration speech on Monday, President Obama told the crowd, "'I want to look out one more time because I'm not going to see this again."

Kids Inaugural - Light On Politics, Heavy On Pop Thanks To Katy Perry, Usher And Glee

Katy Perry Usher Barack Obama Michelle Obama Christina Aguilera Amy Winehouse

On Saturday (January 19, 2013), 5,000 American kids were treated to a pop spectacle at the Kids Inauguration, at the Walter E Washington Convention Center but will it have any impact on those kids’ future political tendencies? Asides from Usher asserting “the youth matters!” during his aerobically-challenging, dance-heavy performance, the message of the evening seemed to be none more challenging than ‘let’s have fun and celebrate!’

The 5,000 strong crowd, Washington Post reports, was made up primarily of military families, public school kids from DC and a ton of “media folk.” As well as, of course, Sasha and Malia Obama, representing their mom and dad, the First Lady, Michelle Obama and of course President Barack Obama, celebrating the official start to his second term in office yesterday (January 21, 2013). But the evening was low on politics and heavy on pop, with Katy Perry putting in a star turn, in a sparkling, star-spangled onesie and sharing some of her greatest hits for the gathered throng, singing ‘Teenage Dream’ and ‘Firework’ “with gusto.”

The cast of Glee were also on hand with the lightweight entertainment, performing ‘Valerie’ (made famous by Amy Winehouse) and ‘Beautiful’ by Christina Aguilera. Meanwhile, the California boy band Mindless Behaviour might not have the kind of name that you think would get the White House seal of approval but their highly physical performance got the thumbs up from the Obamas, nonetheless.

Michelle Obama Dress: What Was It And Where Can You Get It?

Michelle Obama Barack Obama

Michelle Obama's dress for husband Barack Obama's official swearing-in ceremony in Washington has become a hotly discussed topic online. Mrs Obama fittingly opted for an elegant blue creation at the Sunday morning event in the Blue Room at the White House.

WWD.com was among the first to report on Obama's dress, which is made by designer Reed Krakoff, whose signature collection was started less than three years ago. Krakoff - who is also the president and executive creative director of Coach - said it took him and wife Delphine several hours for it all to sink in. "What's so amazing is it's such a singular moment. It really is a highlight of my career. What we are most proud of is that she would choose to wear something we created for her in New York, and to have that kind of back and forth." He began working on the abstract dress more than three months ago, though is still yet to meet the First Lady. "The First Lady is a strong confident modern woman. She knows what she likes and what works for her and that's what makes a style icon," he said, adding, "She very much embraces fashion but in a way that works for her." Though choosing not to disclose the "elaborate" process behind the making of the dress, Krakoff confirmed that it was made in his West 34th Street studio.

It is not yet known which designer Michelle Obama will wear to the Inaugural Ball on Monday night (January 21, 2013).

Austere Barack Obama Inauguration Ready For Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson And James Taylor

Barack Obama Kelly Clarkson Beyonce Knowles James Taylor Katy Perry Usher Lupe Fiasco Michelle Obama

It may be a star-studded line-up performing at the Barack Obama inauguration today at the White House in Washington DC – featuring Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor - but the event as a whole will be a pared-down affair, in keeping with the expectations that the President wants the public to have about his next four years in charge.

As has been widely reported, Beyonce will be singing the US national anthem ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’, with Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor singing patriotic songs ‘My Country, Tis Of Thee’ and ‘America The Beautiful’ respectively. The ceremony will focus on Obama laying out his vision for the next four years, with the country gripped in financial turmoil. However, if things are going to be relatively austere there, then elsewhere the Kids Inaugural Concert held in honor of the President’s new term saw the likes of Katy Perry and Usher celebrate the new era in style. Hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama at the Washington Convention Center, the event was for her daughters, and saw Nick Cannon emcee the evening, with the Glee cast also among those performing in the evening.

Elsewhere things weren’t so celebratory; a staff writer wrote on his Twitter that rapper Lupe Fiasco – playing the StartUp RockOn concert in Washington as part of the celebrations – launched into a 30 minute tirade against Obama, eventually being led from the stage by security.

Season 3 Of Downton Abbey Due In USA – But Has Twitter Spoiled It?

Maggie Smith Michelle Obama Shirley Maclaine

Season 3 of Downton Abbey is about to hit PBS in the USA on Sunday and so far, Michelle Obama has managed to keep her sneak-peek at the new series under her hat but the footnote at the bottom of Hitfix.com’s review suggests that social media sites have probably provided quite a few spoilers for US audiences. Unless America’s citizens have been living a net-free life since the series aired in the UK, it’s inevitable that they’ll have stumbled upon some of the storylines. The disgruntled Hitfix blogger Alan Sepinwall writes that “Twitter has already spoiled plenty for the non-torrenting American audience; let's leave it at that,” imploring the site’s users not to add to the gossip.

That said, Sepinwall is hardly a fan of the show, concluding that he needs to “simply accept” that, after three seasons of writing about it, it simply isn’t the show for him. It’s not all bad news for Downton, as season three is considered to be an improvement on the previous two series.

The highlight for many Americans, of course, will be the presence of Shirley Maclaine, who appears in the role of Martha Levinson, the American mother of Lady Cora (played by Elizabeth McGovern). the time that she shares onscreen with Maggie Smith, particularly, provides some of the highlights of the series.

Perks Of The Job: Michelle Obama Gets A Sneak Peek At Downton Abbey

Michelle Obama Barack Obama

When Michelle Obama’s husband, Barack Obama was voted in for a second term in office as President of the USA, we all, naturally started on some deep and philosophical thinking. About the state of America, about the economy and about women’s rights. And of course, the important stuff: we wondered what kind of perks you get, being the First Lady of the USA. Well, today our questions have been answered. It would seem that the First Lady of the USA gets exactly what she asks for and what she has asked for recently, is a sneak peek at the latest series of Downton Abbey.

That’s right folks, amidst all this election campaigning nonsense, Michelle found the time (or at least, one of her staff did) to contact ITV, over in the UK and ask for advance copies of the series to sit and watch, whilst she’s curled up in the White House with her slippers on. The new episodes are scheduled to air in the USA at the start of January but Michelle decided she simply couldn’t wait that long.

A source from the ITV show told The Sun “We know it’s very popular in America as it’s so quintessentially British. We’d heard the Obamas liked to watch it but we were very surprised when someone from the First Lady’s office got in touch asking for the series. They were very polite and we were more than happy to sort out some DVDs for them to send over. Obviously we hope they keep the spoilers to themselves as our US fans may not know about... well, you know what!” Here’s hoping Mrs Obama knows how to keep a secret!

Michelle Obama Dress: Is First Lady's Election Dress A Lucky Charm?

Michelle Obama

Is that Michelle Obama dress a lucky charm? The gorgeous burgundy silk brocade dress that the First Lady wore on election night was not only an inspired choice (elegant, but understated) that looked great next to her eldest daughter Malia, in her rich blue skirt, but it’s a choice that we’ve seen her make before.

It’ll be reassuring to the US public that the First Lady belives in recycling her clothes in times of such austerity. Rather than rushing out buy a new designer dress for election night, Michelle opted for this Michael Kors staple. She’s previously been pictured in the dress in 2010, at a ceremony held to honor the Army Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta, when she teamed it up with a cropped black cardigan (as she did on election night) and an elegant pin designed by Alexis Bittar. Prior to that, MSN Living report, she was snapped in the same dress back in 2009, when she descended the steps of the White House with her husband.

Fans of Michelle Obama will be relieved that her husband Barack Obama just secured another four years in office. Otherwise, who would they turn to for style leadership? Ann Romney? Somehow, we think not. Her garish outfit choices are something to be gawped at, not echoed with our own fashion purchases.

Hand-Written Letter Of Support: Beyonce Praises Barack Obama On Election Day

Beyonce Knowles Barack Obama Jay Z Michelle Obama

Beyonce has posted a hand-written letter to President Barack Obama, offering her public support, as the president prays for a second term in office.

The results of the US election are announced this evening and Beyoncé has made no secret of who she’s supporting today (just in case you were in any doubt). If it was a contest in racking up the coolest celebrity supporters, it’s fair to say that Mitt Romney would have lost this a long time ago.

The note reads “President OBAMA, Everyday we see your heart and character, inspiring all of us to give more of ourselves. You are the leader to take us from where we need to be. You are the reason my daughter an nephew will grow up knowing that they can truly be ANYTHING they want to be.” She then signed the letter with the words “All my respect and ADORATION, Beyoncé.” This isn’t the first time that the award-winning pop star has used her website to praise the First Couple, either. Back in April 2012, she penned an equally encouraging note to Michelle Obama, via her website, describing Barack’s wife as “the ULTIMATE example of a truly strong African American.”

Michelle Obama Jimmy Kimmel Barack Obama Meatloaf

Michelle Obama is not exempt from election duties, oh no: she's got to carry the Obama flag in the media, making public appearances while trying her hardest to remain a resident of the Whitehouse for another four years.

Obama's debut on The Jimmy Kimmel Show yesterday (Oct 25) featured a spoof video of the First Lady waking people up with foghorns and telling him it's Election Day, reports The L.A Times. It was a fun video, but came with a serious message: vote for my husband. "Even when Barack talked about entering politics period, I was very hesitant, for the very same reasons -- your life is no longer your own," she said. "But then I thought about the kind of person I wanted to lead the country. I felt that to deny him that right would be selfish." She's well and truly on board now, and the fact that last night saw her debut on Kimmel's talk show is actually quite a surprise, considering her proficiency with TV appearances. She did, though, admit in the interview that she'd quite like the ignominy of civilian life.

Obama needs all the help he can get; Romney is making this one of the tightest elections yet, partly due to Obama's apparent failings as a president, and partly due to the myriad celebrity supporters, most recently, Meatloaf.

Proving, as we didn’t already know it, that the Obamas are the ones with all the character, Michelle Obama filmed a funny skit for Jimmy Kimmel Live, reminding the US voting public that they need to get out of bed on voting day and get their vote registered.

In the sketch, she wakes a sleeping Jimmy, with the aid of a megaphone, making sure he gets up at down to the voting station. “Get up! Get your shoes on!” she shouts, whilst blasting a horn in his face. “Go and vote!” she screams as he goes out the door, and then says “I need some carrots!” as he leaves.

New York City Fundraiser Sees Jay-Z And Beyonce Turn Out To Support President Obama

Jay Z Barack Obama Beyonce Knowles Michelle Obama

With the Democrats looking strong following a series of gaffs by Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, President Barack Obama saw the chance to bring his star power into the fray and enjoyed some mutual back slapping time with Jay Z and Beyonce at an exclusive New York City fundraiser at Jigga's 40/40 club in Manhattan.

The fundraiser for Obama's Presidential campaign saw around 100 people pay roughly $40,000 a seat as the three took centre stage. "I can't tell you how proud we are to host tonight's event with President Obama," said Beyonce, looking stunning in a red cocktail dress and styling her hair into blond curls. "We believe in his vision." A bashful Obama was equally complimentary, comparing the singer to his wife First Lady Michelle Obama and quipping that it was they who took the spotlight rather than him and Hova.

"We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are" he commented. "So, you know, we've got a little bond there. It's hard but it's OK." Taking on a more serious tone, Obama insisted that "Beyonce could not be a better role model for my girls," and thanked the star couple for their friendship. A few months ago it was looking decidedly dicey for Obama, but with a series of gaffs by his opponent Romney, not least being video-taped admitting he'd never gain the vote of those dependent on the government for benefits, things are looking markedly stronger for the current President.

'Remind them that Barrack has cut taxes for working families by $3,600', she said. 'Let them know that he cut taxes for small businesses 18 times.'

She goes on to explain how Obama was placed in a tough position when he took office given the state of the economy but has managed to improve it somewhat. 'This economy was losing an average of $750,000 every month', she recalled
