Michelle Obama has long been at the forefront of campaigns to introduce a healthier style of living into the American zeitgeist and as she continues to push for a more health-conscious population, the First Lady has taken a musical direction to further her point. The song 'Everybody' was released earlier this week, with the video for the track premiering on NBC's website on Tuesday (13 August) - with the track arriving in tandem with the news that a full-length hip-hop album will also be released to go with the track.

Songs for A Healthier America features guest spots from celebrities in the rap and R&B game coming together to help promote Mrs Obama's vision of a healthier nation, with the 19-track release aimed at motivating children to be more active and healthy. Although not your typical hip-hop release, the album will bear all the hallmarks of a hip-hop album, with fresh beats, guest verses and a collection of rap stars all showing up to further promote Michelle's vision. The album will also feature spoken word parts from Michelle herself.

'Everybody,' the first single from the album, mainly consists of Jordin Sparks stretching her vocal range, with a verse from rapper Doug E Fresh and an introduction from the First Lady discussing her 'Let's Move' campaign. In the song, Sparks sings about the positives of living a healthier lifestyle, singing, "you gotta work hard, eat right, feeling good starts on the inside" and telling kids to value their own body; "every-body, it's your body."

The video for the song shows examples of where her campaign has been put into practice and also features rapper Dr Oz - who worked on the album and was the first to announce it during one of his shows in June - dancing with a classroom of children who are already feeling the benefits of healthy living. The project itself isn't a Obama-endorsed product that she has been working exclusively on, however, it does actively promote the 'Lets Move' campaign. Songs for A Healthier America will be released in September.
