British singer Mick Hucknall will be honoured with a lifetime achievement award from The Radio Academy next month (Nov12).

The Simply Red frontman's career will be feted by the broadcasting charity for leaving "an indelible mark on the music radio industry".

Speaking about the honour, Hucknall says, "I'm delighted that The Radio Academy have chosen to give me their lifetime achievement award this year.

"As a singer and songwriter, you just keep doing what you're doing, and it's great to know that the people in radio - people making decisions about what music the world listens to - continue to like what I do, and to support my work."

He will be presented with the award at a special dinner in his hometown of Manchester, England on 13 November (12).

Hucknall will join a host of celebrated former recipients including Sir Paul MCCartney, Paul Weller, Gary Barlow, and Ronnie Wood.
