Sir Mick Jagger Becomes A Father Again At The Age Of 73

The Rolling Stones’ iconic frontman Sir Mick Jagger has become a father again at the age of 73, according to his publicist.

Jagger already has seven children, ranging in age from 17 to 46, and became a great-grandfather just two years ago. However, his 29 year old girlfriend, American ballet dancer Melanie Hamrick, gave birth to a baby boy in New York City on Thursday (December 8th), meaning the singer has become a dad for the eighth time.

His publicist Bernard Doherty initially announce the news, with a confirmation in a statement soon afterwards that said the couple was “delighted” at the birth.

“Mick was at the hospital for the arrival,” the statement continued. “Mother and baby are doing well and we request that the media respect their privacy at this time.”

Jagger had his other children with Marsha Hunt, Bianca Jagger, Jerry Hall and Luciana Giminez Morad. In May 2014, he became a great-grandfather when his granddaughter Assisi – the daughter of Jade Jagger – gave birth to a baby girl.

Last year, he began dating Hamrick in the aftermath of the suicide of L’Wren Scott in late 2014, his partner of 13 years.

He’s not the only member of the Stones to have become a new father in 2016 – guitarist Ronnie Wood welcomed twin daughters, named Gracie Jane and Alice Rose, with his wife of four years Sally Humphreys back in May, just before he turned 69.

It’s also been an eventful year for the group itself, with the completion of a London exhibition, entitled ‘Exhibitionism’, which curated more than 50 years of Stones history and memorabilia. The band also released its first ever covers album, Blue & Lonesome, their first material in 11 years, just last week.
