Miguel (born Miguel Jontel Pimentel; 23.10.1985) Miguel is an American R&B recording artist known for tracks such as 'Adorn' and 'Sure Thing'.
Childhood: Miguel was born in San Pedro, Los Angeles. His father is Mexican and his mother is African-American; they divorced when he was aged 8. He wanted to be a dancer at aged 5 but turned his attention to music when he hit his teens and learnt about production and recording before looking at finding a record contract.
Musical Career: Miguel signed his first production contract with Drop Squad at aged 15. Four years later he was signed by indie label Black Ice through which he began work on his album 'Young & Free'; however, the album never came to fruition and he soon abandoned his deal with the label. He signed with Jive Records in 2007 after Mark Pitts received the song 'Sure Thing' from his manager and later recorded his debut album 'All I Want Is You' but it's release was stalled for two years after he was sued by Black Ice for breaching his contract with them.
He made contributions to work by Usher, Asher Roth and Musiq Soulchild following that and also released his mixtape 'Mischief: The Mixtape'. After poor sales of his debut album, he toured with Trey Songz and Usher and two of his singles from the album 'Quickie' and 'Sure Thing' did well in the charts. Miguel was shifted to RCA Records following Jive Records disbanding and released his second album 'Kaleidoscope Dream' in 2012. It opened at number three in the US Billboard 200 chart and in the first week sold 71,000.

Don't try this at home, kids. Don't try it anywhere at all.
George Watsky’s 30ft stage dive was pretty inexcusable, but it probably felt fine at the time. But there are very few things that feel fine at the time that are actually alright, like swearing, ducking ordering a dessert and buying a scarf.
A 30ft stage dive – again – is not cool. He didn’t really hurt himself; he suffered a few bad bruises, a cut or two and some damaged pride, but it was the girl with the broken arm leaving the worst off, while another man was hospitalised.
“It was stupid and wildly irresponsible, plain and simple,” said Watsky. “I have no excuse for my actions, and the only way I can explain my mindset is that it was a huge overreach in the heat of the moment.”
Who's suing who? Sometimes we get confused
It appears as though there’s some tender beef cooking between Future and Drake. The former is apparently suing the Canadian rapper for kicking him off the 39-gig tour they were supposed to perform together, alongside Miguel.
Drake booted Future from the tour because of his disparaging comments about his new album, Never Was The Same. Associate editor Erika Ramirez published a story on Billboard including quotes from Future, which she also posted on her Twitter feed.
“Not only is future’s #honest album interesting, so are his thoughts on Drake’s #NWTS album,” Ramirez wrote. She then went on to quote Future: “‘Drake made an album that is full of hits but it doesn’t grab you. They’re not possessive; they don’t make you feel the way I do’ — Future.”

Singer Mariah was rushed to a NYC hospital after injuring herself on set whilst filming a music video
Mariah Carey is currently in a New York City hospital, where she has been since Sunday (July 7) suffering from a shoulder injury. The diva was shooting her next music video in the Big Apple when the accident took place and was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital late that night to receive treatment. Her rep says she's doing fine.
Who knows how she'll be able to perform her rigorous on-stage routine this Saturday
Carey was shooting her part for the video for a remixed version of her song '#Beautiful' with rapper Young Jeezy, who performed his version of the song with Mariah and original '#Beautiful' guest Miguel at the BET Music Awards. Unfortunately, the video shoot - which was being directed by her husband Nick Cannon - had to be put on ice following the unspecified injury to the singer's shoulder. On Monday (July 8), a rep for the singer revealed the "doctors reset her shoulder" and that "she is fine."

Young children waved US flags and the crowd whooped patriotically as fan-clobbering crooner Miguel softly sang, "When you dance like that, your jeans so tight// Oh, you're killing me, baby do it again." Writhing on a haystack whilst looking every inch the wholesome country girl, Mariah's eyes met Miguel's as she answered in kind: "I like when you run red lights//Don't stop 'til you thrill me, oh how you thrill me."

Drake and Miguel are heading on a tour of North America this fall
There'll soon be a rap/R&B mixed with contemporary R&B chemistry being mixed up on the road later this year, as Canada's Drake will be heading on tour with Miguel for a forty one city run through North America. The two will hit the road this fall, making the Rose Garden Arena in Portland, Oregon their first stop on September 25 (full list after the story). Drake announced his plans to go on the extensive tour of North America on Monday (June 17), unveiling the cheeky 'Would You Like a Tour?' banner name and detailing each of the 40+ stops, as well as telling fans of the extra treat on offer when the two stop by Las Vegas, as rapper Future will also be making an appearance.
Drake is running the tour in tandem with the release of Nothing, his upcoming album that has already spawned the tracks 'Started From the Bottom,' '5AM in Toronto' and 'Girls Love Beyoncé.' Before he get on the road though, Drizzy has to work on his stage work first and the fourth annual OVO Fest in his native Toronto should provide the perfect platform for that. The head of OVO will be bringing acts such as Frank Ocean, James Blake and a host of 'special guests' for the two day festival at Molson Canadian Amphitheatre on August 4-5.

Miguel apparently defied an order NOT to jump into the crowd at the Billboard Music Awards.
Miguel has potentially landed himself in an awful lot of trouble after it emerged he was ordered not to jump over the crowd during his performance at The Billboard Music Awards because producers deemed it too dangerous. Of course, the Latin star defied the order and lunged into the crowd, leg dropping a female fan who subsequently smashed her head against the stage.
Sources connected to the production of the annual awards show tell TMZ.com that Miguel approached producers before rehearsals and asked if he could try the jump. Producers shot down the idea, telling Miguel it was simply too dangerous.
Once show time came around, the singer ignored the order and attempted the jump, botching it completely and seriously injuring a fan. Now, the victim's lawyer says she may have suffered a brain injury as a result with a lawsuit expected to land on Miguel's doorstep in the near future.
