Miguel Caught Drink Driving – Arrested For DUI

Miguel

Miguel is forging quite the reputation as a music bad boy, but he’ll have to wrestle that mantle off Chris Brown if he really wants wear it with pride. He’s kicked a girl in the face while performing an ill-advised stage jump, now he’s necking suds and getting behind the wheel.

MiguelMiguel looks all nice and innocent here, but he's got 'a side'

MTV confirmed news, but to be fair, they didn’t specify the tipple he was sipping before driving, so suds is probably quite inaccurate. It’s just a fun word to write. Here are the facts though:

Mariah Carey In Pain, Still Manages To Perform With New York Philharmonic

Mariah Carey Nick Cannon Miguel

Mariah Carey has truly bolstered the national pride lately, having performed at Macy's July Fourth celebrations in glamorously patriotic fashion and has now stirred the country's hearts once more in a brave performance with the world-renowned New York Philharmonic Orchestra at the Major League Baseball's All-Star Charity Concert in Central Park on Saturday (13th July).

Carey had injured her shoulder last week whilst filming a video to accompany a remix of her '#Beautiful' collaboration with Miguel. Rep Cindi Berger confirmed to CNN: "Mariah injured herself while filming a video with Jeezy for the remix of #Beautiful, directed by her husband Nick Cannon," explaining "She was taken to hospital late last night, where doctors reset her shoulder. She is fine."

Mariah Carey Hospitalized After Suffering Injury On '#Beautiful' Video Shoot

Mariah Carey Nick Cannon Miguel

Mariah Carey was hospitalized in New York on Sunday (July 7, 2013) after suffering an injury on the set of a video shoot for a remix version of her song '#Beautiful' with rapper Young Jeezy. The song features Grammy winner and amateur crowd-surfer Miguel and peaked at No.15 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.

Her representative told CBS News that Mariah went to hospital in New York after suffering a shoulder injury while shooting the video. It is not clear whether she fell, or was struck, though the singer's rep added that "doctors reset her shoulder" and that "she is fine". Some reports have suggested she may have tripped over while dancing in towering feels for the video - which is directed by Mariah's husband Nick Cannon - however this remains pure speculation.

The singer will still perform with the New York Philharmonic on Central Park's Great Lawn this Saturday. This show, for the 2013 MLB All-Star Charity Concert, will benefit victims of Superstorm Sandy.

Mariah Carey Caught Lip Syncing Again? Singer Accused Of Fake Singing During BET Awards

Mariah Carey Miguel Young Jeezy Nick Cannon

Mariah Carey is being called out on her performance at the BET Music Awards on Sunday (June 30), with viewers complaining that the singer was clearly lip-syncing during her performance with singer Miguel and rapper Young Jeezy. Although it isn't uncommon for singers to lip-sync their parts at award shows that are prone to sound interruption and involve exhaustive dance routines, the singer has still been called out on her performance.

Mariah will have to defend herself against the accusations.

Just over a month after she had to deny lip-syncing a medley of her greatest hits during the American Idol finale, the singer has to answer to the naysayers once again. The singer was performing her new single '#Beautiful,' with a guest verse from Jeezy, and during the high-octane performance the singer seemed to be singing, on occasion, with the help of a backing track.

Drake Announces Release Date Of New Album, Nothing Was The Same

Drake Miguel

Toronto rapper Drake has revealed the release date of his upcoming album, Nothing Was The Same, with the head of October's Very Own entertainment updating the newly launched OVO website's front page with the date September 17 scrawled across the page in capital letters and the album's title sat beneath it. The album will be Drake's third release to date, the follow-up to 2011's Take Care and 2009's Thank Me Later.

The website was updated late Friday (June 21) evening and comes only days after the rapper announced plans for an extensive tour of North America with R&B singer Miguel, with rapper Future showing up at certain gigs. And what a treat the announcement must be to some hip hop fans, with this, Yeezus and Magna Carta Holy Grail completing the holy trinity of commercial rap releases in one year.

We've already heard some snippets from the album already and things are sounding promising. The website also included four new songs from the OVO-sphere all available for free download on the OVO SoundCloud, although the page doesn't specify which ones, if any, will make it on to the release. 'The Motion' sounds like a grower, and 'Migos' by Versace and Drake sounds as though it could get a party started, so things are already looking good for the new album. And hey, maybe after this album he'll finally be able to get into the Heat's dressing room.

Miguel Insists He Was Never Told Not To Attempt Botched Staged Jump

Miguel Justin Bieber Kid Rock

R&B singer Miguel has insisted that, despite what the organisers of last month's Billboard Music Awards have said, he was never told to not to attempt his disastrous stage jump. The singer tried clearing a gap in the stage where some audience members were stood, only to land leg first on two unwitting fans.

Nonononono!

According to TMZ, the 'Adorn' singer had attempted the jump in rehearsals a few times and not only was he not told to drop the stunt, but was asked before the show if he was still going to go through with the jump before the show so that the cameras didn't miss it. This completely contradicts what the producers at the BMAs said previously, with the music bigwigs having previously told press outlets that executive producer for the showcase Don Mischer had spoken to Miguel personally after rehearsals to told him not to perform the ill-fated leap.

Miguel Hits Back At Billboard Producers, Saying They Never Told Him Not To Jump The Crowd

Miguel

Last month's Billboard Awards were memorable mostly for the wrong reasons, with R&B singer Miguel's mistimed jump over a group of audience members standing out as one of the most unintentionally funny moments of the night. Earlier this week the organisers of the awards show said how angry they were at the singer for trying the stunt despite being told not to, however the singer hit back on Wednesday (June 5) saying he was never told not to attempt the jump.

The 'Adorn' singer tried to clear a section of the stage that some lucky fans - and two not-so-lucky fans - got to stand in and be a little closer to the action. The singer just about made it, but ended up landing on two female audience members who were stood at the edge of the fan-pit, with one of the victims, Khyati Shah, now complaining of possible brain damage and threatening to sue the event organisers for the ill-fated move. In an attempt to clear their name, producers from the Billboard Music Awards said that they specifically told Miguel not to try the jump, with the BMA's executive producer Don Mischer apparently speaking to Miguel after rehearsals personally to tell him to leave the stunt out of the show.

Miguel is having none of it though, and has hit back, through his rep, today to say that not only was he never told not to attempt the jump, but was asked whether he was still going to go through with the stunt prior to the performance so the cameras didn't miss anything. The singer's rep told TMZ, "The reports claiming that Miguel was warned by producers not to jump are completely false."

Bye Bye Bynes Case: The NYPD can probably kiss goodbye to its case against troubled star Amanda Bynes after it emerged they have little or no evidence that the television actress was taking drugs when arrested at her apartment last week. It still hasn't stopped her ranting on Twitter though.

MigHELL: Billboard Stunt Looks Set To Land Miguel In A World Of Legal Trouble

Miguel

We all had a good chuckle when pop star Miguel went all Hulk Hogan on our asses – and more specifically one of his fan's asses – when he lept into the crowd at the Billboard Music Awards and ended up leg dropping someone in the crowd.

She was led away at the time but the star was seen with her back stage after the show, and it seemed like what had been a stunt gone wrong had been smoothed over. Ahh Miggy, how wrong we were. The victim is now awaiting results from a brain scan that could prove she has BRAIN DAMAGE from the incident. That’s right, we’re writing that in capitals because it seems pretty unbelievable, but nevertheless here we are. If that’s the case the fan might well be taking legal action against poor Miguel, who at the time had put the incident down to simply being caught up in the moment. TMZ are painting a slightly different story, saying that the move had been planned (well, not the leg drop bit, just the dive into the crowd) even though show organizers had told him not to go through with it. Uh oh.

Miguel's Billboard Leap Brain Damages Fan?

Miguel Rihanna

Singer Miguel is facing legal action after he attempted to spring across a crowd of fans but fell short, landing on Khyati Shah, who was standing in the audience at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards on 19th May.

Miguel, born Miguel Jontel Pimental, carried on performing after he misjudged his cross-stage leap, crashing into Shah with force and trapping her underneath his outstretched leg as she was slammed on to the stage.

Shah, who was interviewed with Miguel after the incident was smiling as she held an icepack on her elbow. Miguel took to Twitter to smooth things over, calling her his "new friend."

Mariah Carey's '#Beautiful' Explained By Song Collaborator Miguel

Mariah Carey Miguel

Mariah Carey revealed her latest single, titled '#Beautiful', earlier this month and already the song is proving to be a hit with fans. Her collaborator on the track, R&B rising star Miguel, offered an explanation behind the song title earlier this week, revealing that the hashtag has an actual meaning rather than just being included in the song name in some vain attempt to appear relevant.

Speaking with MTV News, Miguel revealed that the hashtag has a rather naughty meaning behind it, standing for a explicit word that cannot be uttered on pre-watershed TV or radio. He said, “The hashtag in the title of this song is particularly fitting because the word that comes before ‘beautiful’ when I sing the chorus is an expletive that I can’t say on air. But the hashtag is particularly fitting for that expletive, if you just kind of pay a little bit of attention.”

The track is the lead single from Mariah’s upcoming album, her fourteenth in total, and as Miguel pointed out in his interview, the track is significantly different to any of her other singles because it doesn't open with her singing, but rather with Miguel's vocals.

Miguelmania's Gonna Run Wild On You! Miguel Leg Drops Fan At Billboards

Miguel

It’s a completely made-up fact that Miguel once trialed to appear in the WWE, but you could’ve sworn it was true after the star executed an impressive flying leg drop during the weekend’s Billboard Music Awards that, err, managed to land square on one of his audience.

In footage which is surely going to be replayed for the rest of the week, if not month, the pop singer was putting in an energetic turn on stage to his hit ‘Adorn’ when he made the jump. It’s unclear whether he was trying to make the curved runway that separated the golden circle from the rest of the crowd, or whether he was just going for a crowd surf and approached it a little too aggressively. Either way he managed to completely take out one of his female fans, knocking her against the runway and causing her to have to be taken away and checked upon.

In fairness to the Mig-ster, he expressed remorse on his Twitter after the event, writing “got caught up in the moment, thank goodness Khyati is okay.” Sky News meanwhile writes that she was spotted back stage at the Billboard Awards with Miguel, ice pack in hand. The crazy thing is, though, if you watch the footage, is that Miguel just carries on…

Un'Fortune'ate! Chris Brown Refuses To Stand As He Loses Out To Frank Ocean At Grammys

Frank Ocean Chris Brown Miguel Adele Ed Sheeran

Frank Ocean's Grammy win was met with remote indifference from fellow R&B star Chris Brown as he failed to rise from his seat at the awards ceremony last night (February 10th 2013).

Chris Brown was unlucky at the Grammy awards as he lost out on an Urban Contemporary Album accolade for his last effort 'Fortune' to his rival Frank Ocean with his debut album 'Channel Orange'. As Ocean was announced the victor in that category, Brown seemed to do a double take before hastily applauding, though he can be seen resolutely sitting as Ocean took to the stage to accept his award.

Of course, the pair haven't exactly been getting on like a house on fire recently. In January, there was an altercation between the two of them over a parking space outside a West Hollywood recording studio whereby Brown punched Ocean, with one of his team allegedly threatened to shoot him. Ocean, however, decided against pressing charges.
