Hilary Duff’s ex-husband, former pro hockey player MIKE COMRIE, has become involved in an open sexual battery investigation, the Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed to multiple news outlets – although they did not confirm that Comrie was a suspect, citing confidentiality around such cases.

The alleged victim claims that the former NHL player raped her on multiple occasions after meeting him at a bar on Saturday night (February 16th), according to initial reports from TMZ. That same report says that Comrie claims that the night they spent together was consensual, at his home in west Los Angeles.

Hillary Duff is on her way to becoming a single lady once again, after the actress filed for divorce from husband MIKE COMRIE. The filing has been a long time coming, after the pair announced their separation last year. In fact, it's been over twelve months, since the couple issued a statement, saying they were separating in January of 2014. 

A year after they announced their separation, it looks like it's officially the end for Duff and Comrie.

According to Billboard, the couple were seen holding hands at a Halloween party last year. Apparently they have not managed to work out their differences in that time, as Duff's rep confirmed the divorce news for the entertainment website on Friday.

Hilary Duff and her ex-NHL star other half MIKE COMRIE have called it quits and decided to separate after more than three years of marriage. The pair have confirmed that they are going their separate ways, revealing that they "have mutually decided to an amicable separation" and will "remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives."

The former Lizzy Maguire star and former hockey star Comrie have not given any other reason as to why their marriage has failed, but the pair will remain in close contact despite their split for the benefit of 1-year-old son Luca. According to Hilary's mother, Susan Duff, speaking to TMZ, the pair have already decide to keep joint custody of Luca, but will look to continue their life with other people. Susan told TMZ that she is sad to see the two separate, but in her view "They're better friends than a married couple."

Every year there are hosts of celebrities whose marriages fall apart under the scrutiny of the public eye. Last year it was Bruce and Kris Jenner; Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas; and the Billy-Ray Cyrus' to name a few. This year it seems the first celebrity couple to publically announce their split are former Disney star Hilary Duff and Canadian Ice Hockey player MIKE COMRIE.

The couple announced their separation yesterday (Friday 10th January) via a statement released by Duff's representative. The statement announced 26-year-old Duff and 33-year-old Crombie "have mutually decided [upon] an amicable separation. They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time."

Hilary Duff and her husband, MIKE COMRIE, announced their separation today (Friday 10th January). A statement was released by Duff's representative, speaking exclusively to People, who announced the couple "have mutually decided to an amicable separation."  The release continued by claiming the two will "remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives."

The separation does appear, at this very early stage, to be amicable and 26-year-old Duff tweeted, an hour ago, on her and 33-year-old Comrie's behalf. She thanked fans for their well wishes in a tweet which reads: "Mike and I are sitting here, we are so appreciative of all your kindness and well wishes. Not an easy day but we're getting through it together."
