Miley Cyrus is set to star in 'So Undercover'.

The 17-year-old singer-and-actress will play a street-smart private eye hired by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) to go undercover in a college.

The movie - which goes into production in December - will be directed by Tom Vaughn, while The Script has been written by Allan Loeb and Steven Pearl.

Exclusive Media Group is producing the project and will also fully finance it, reports.

Best known as teen star Hannah Montana in the successful TV and movie series, Miley has recently tried to distance herself with drama movie 'The Last Song' and an English-language version of 'LOL: Laughing Out Loud' alongside Demi Moore.

Details leaked from the script of 'LOL' - which also stars Ashley Greene - see Miley's character smoking drugs, kissing other girls and showing her mother, played by Moore, her Brazilian bikini wax.

Miley's parents, Billy Ray and Trish, recently announced they would be divorcing after 17 years of marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences".
