Keeping up her trend of performing fashionable cover versions, Miley Cyrus tackled The Smiths at Belfast's Odyssey Arena on Tuesday night (May 20, 2014). More than 25 years on from the Manchester band's split, Cyrus - who can't be criticised for her taste in music - recaptured the magic of the group's finest work.

For the most of it, Miley's version remained respectful and faithful to the original - a classic from 1985's The Queen is Dead. She adopted her crooning voice for the melancholy track, delighting fans in the audience - some of whom even knew what was going on.

On Sunday, in Morrissey's hometown of Manchester, Miley teamed up with the Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd for a rendition of the Beatles 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds'. During her Bangerz tour, the pop-star has also performed a slowed down version of Outkast's Hey Ya! and a cover of Dolly Paron's Jolene.

As for The Smiths, former frontman Morrissey has again dashed fans' hope of a reunion, telling an interviewer, "I don't know a single person who wants a Smiths reunion!" The front man is set to release his new album World Peace Is None of Your Business on July 15th, his first record since 2009's Years of Refusal.

Miley Cyrus continues her Bangerz tour over the coming days in Germany, Norway, Sweden and Finland.
