Miley Cyrus is to join ‘The Voice’ as a key adviser when the tenth season returns to NBC later this month, it has been confirmed.

The 23 year old singer, who recently wrapped up her ‘Dead Petz’ tour with the Flaming Lips on one of the most bizarre musical journeys undertaken by a major label star in memory, will be assisting all four teams’ singers when the audition section of ‘The Voice’ has finished.

“When Miley speaks everyone pays attention. Our artists are very lucky to have the benefit of her instincts and wisdom,” said NBC executive Paul Telegdy in a statement. “Our viewers will be treated to an inside look at one of the brightest minds in music and the entertainment industry who is at the forefront of pop culture.”

Judges Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams will all be returning to the popular show, and Christina Aguilera recently confirmed that she’ll be replacing Gwen Stefani, meaning she’ll be coaching for the second time.

Supporting the coaches will be Diddy / Sean Combs behind Pharrell, Tori Kelly with Maroon 5 vocalist Levine, Patti LaBelle with Christina and Stefani supporting her new boyfriend Shelton.

Just before the news was announced, Miley teased the prospect of joining the programme with a tweet on Wednesday night of her posing next to one of the distinctive red buttons.

Cyrus seems to be undergoing something of a reverse image change in the last few months. In January, it was confirmed that she got engaged once again to her ex-fiancé Liam Hemsworth, after they had split up in 2013. Just last week, she was revealed as a cast member of Woody Allen’s new six-part Amazon Prime series.
