Miley Cyrus may portray a confident rebellious young women but her softer side is revealed in candid interview with Barbara Walters.

The 21 year-old sat down with the famous journalist for a candid interview for 'Barbara Walters Presents The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013.'

Cyrus discusses her well-publicised split from 'Hunger Games' star Liam Hemsworth this past September and demonstrated a vulnerability that seemed out of character for the 'Bangerz' hit maker.

"I was so scared of ever being alone, and I think, conquering that fear, this year, was actually bigger than any other transition that I had, this entire year," Miley recalled in a very successful 2013.

She revealed, "I don't ever want to have to need someone again, where you feel like, without them, you can't be yourself."

The pair met on the set of the American romantic film 'The Last Song' in 2009 and dated for the next four years. They announced their engagement three years later but Miley now admits saying 'Yes' to Hemsworth may have been rushed.

"I don't think I realized what 19 truly is, and I got engaged at 19, and I definitely wouldn't change being engaged," Cyrus said.

"It was so fun wearing a fat rock for a few years," she added referring to her diamond ring the Australian actor gave her. "But now, I just feel like I can actually be happy. I wait for those moments of silence, when I'm just at my house, by myself."

And when Walters asked if Miley would ever consider walking down the aisle, she replied, "I think I'll want that in the times that it needs to be."
