Mindy Kaling and her ex BJ Novak must be the friendliest of all the friendly exes as the former flames have just announced they’ll soon be writing a book together. The news was revealed when Kaling was interviewed by Novak about her new book, Why Not Me at the BookCon festival on Saturday.

Careful not to reveal too much, Novak told the excited crowd, "It's very early. We just met yesterday to discuss all the different directions it will go in. It's very early in the creative process.”

Powerhouse comedienne Mindy Kaling has had a killer year so far and she’s topped it off with a brand new book. Kaling follows in the footsteps of fellow funnywomen Tina Fey and Amy Poehler with another memoir. She previewed Why Not Me? at BookCon this week. The panel kicked off the publisher conference and featured Kaling’s Office co-star BJ Novak.

So here are some highlights from the panel, courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter: "The first one is the wistful meaning where I'm at an age where a lot of my friends are getting married, and I have a sense of a feeling of being left out," she explained. "Another side is the ambitious side of me that for my entire life, though no one has ever bared a passing resemblance to me in television or film, why not me? Why can't I do that?"

Inside Out, the new Pixar movie by Pete Docter, has premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to a wave of strong reviews. It tells the story of Riley (Kaitlin Dyas), an eleven-year-old girl who has to leave behind her friends when her parents move to San Francisco.

Riley's father is setting up as an entrepreneur though the move is making her depressed in a way that her parents do not fully appreciate. Her emotions - Joy, Anger, Disgust, Fear and Sadness - are plunged into chaos as they compete for control of her mind.

Pixar’s latest animated feature, Inside Out made the Cannes Film Festival an emotional affair on Monday, as the critics were bowled over by unconventional story of a little girl and her emotions. Directed by Pete Docter, the man behind Monster’s Inc and Up, the film could just be the studio’s best offering since Toy Story and maybe even it’s greatest artistic achievement yet.

Inside Out explores the emotions within the mind of an 11 year old girl.

Set inside the mind of a young girl named Riley, Inside Out gives a voice to the emotions which help guide her through adolescence as she struggles following her family’s cross-country move. Joy, Anger, Disgust, Fear and Sadness are all personified with Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Bill Hader, Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling voicing to the five emotions.

It's official: The Mindy Project has been picked up by Hulu. The series, which stars its creator Mindy Kaling, was cancelled by Fox earlier this month but its short term future is secure with Hulu. The online streaming service has ordered 26 episodes of the show and, as The Mindy Project is already a Hulu streaming exclusive, the entire series will be available for subscribers.

Mindy Kaling is "thrilled" with Hulu's decision to pick up The Mindy Project.

Fans of ‘The Mindy Project’ are understandably heartbroken over news of the series' cancellation by Fox, but things might not be over for the comedy yet. According to reports, the sitcom might soon be thrown a lifeline by Hulu and could continue on the platform for at least two more seasons.

Word of ‘The Mindy Project’s’ cancellation was first reported on Wednesday by Entertainment Weekly, who learnt that Fox wouldn't be renewing the series for a fourth season. Ratings for the comedy, which ended its third season in March, were said to have been steadily dropping, at one pointing averaging just 2.1 million viewers.

Vijay Chokalingam, the brother of the actress Mindy Kaling, has written a book about his experiences of posing as a black man in order to get into medical school. The book titled Almost Black describes how the author - an Indian American - posed as a black man to test the theory that African American candidates were most likely to be accepted.

Mindy Kaling, whilst at a New York event in her honour, was wrongly identified by a man who thought she was Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai. The 35-year-old described the incident in which she was mistaken for the 17-year-old activist.

As the NY Times reports, Kaling presented a talk at the SIR Stage37 in Manhattan before heading over to top of the Standard Hotel (also known as the Boom Boom Room). It was at the bar when she was spotted by a 'tipsy man in his 80s' who believed she was Yousafzai. Kaling had even given a talk at the event but evidently some confusion remained.

NBC are on the hunt for a new generation of "untapped talent" and have put out a call for "fresh comedic voices" who will be given the chance to pitch their best sitcom ideas to both the channel's top dogs and comedy royalty in a new national campaign. From the 1st May this year, aspiring comedy writers will be asked to submit their ideas to be considered for both digital and network comedy shows.

Yes, you read that right. “Who’s your type?” she asked Kaling, who seemed confused by the question. “Good looking?”, Kaling responded with the quizzical intonation of someone who is confounded. This wasn’t enough for Quarles though, who continued “So, any colour?”. It’s more than a little intrusive to begin with to ask the star what kind of men she likes, but to demand a race be included in her bizarre interrogation is just too much.

More and more attention has been brought to magazines’ rampant retouching of stars on their covers – Melissa McCarthy, Gabourey Sidibe, Mindy Kaling and even Jennifer Lawrence have been retouched beyond recognition in recent months. The most recent victim of this trend is Lena Dunham, who graces the cover of this month’s Vogue.

The creator of Girls was confused by the backlash against her Vogue shots.

Bloggers and online commenters are in a bit of a twist over Mindy Kaling’s newly released Elle cover, but the star of The Mindy Project herself is staying classy about it. After the four covers of this month’s issue (featuring Kaling and fellow honorees Zooey Deschanel (New Girl), Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation) and Allison Williams (Girls)), people were quick to point out that Kaling seemed to have drawn the short end of the stick. While the other women were pictured in color, full-body portraits, while Kaling received the black and white treatment. Her photo is also the only one cropped to focus just on her face.

Did Kaling's body type prevent her from getting the same treatment as her fellow actresses?

Because Kaling is the only one who counts as “curvier” by Hollywood standards (although a size 8 could hardly be called “curvy” in Regular People Land), the conclusion that Elle had cropped her due to restrictive beauty standards was obvious. The same sort of controversy happened back in 2013, when Melissa McCarthy posed for the cover, draped in a baggy coat. Back then, however, McCarthy insisted that the look had been her own choice and that was that.
