British music occasionally suffers a real drought of popularity with our cousins across the Atlantic. In 2006 there were an entire three weeks in which no British music found its way in America's top 100 at all. They were three weeks filled with fear. However, this has all spun around rather dramatically in the past few years, with the rise of multi-platinum selling artist Adele, and most recently Mumford And Sons, whose second album 'Babel' has deservedly shot to number one in the US this week.

Not only has Mumford and Sons topped the charts, but they have in fact smashed 2012s current record having sold well over half a million copies of the album, and beating Justin Bieber (that's right music fans, you can breathe a sigh of relief) by 226,000. 'Babel' follows their 2009 debut album 'Sigh No More' which hasn’t dropped out of the Top 75 in the Billboard Chart since entering in July 2010, selling 2.5million copies in the country. All of this means that Mumford and Sons now sit only behind Lady GaGa’s Born This Way in the list of biggest selling digital albums.

The band’s success is undoubtedly found in the impeccable musical arrangements, effortless layering, as well as Marcus Mumford's lyrics, that clearly touch the hearts of millions. To celebrate their success the band have added a second date to their tour in England, at the O2 Arena in London on December 18th this year.
