The Heat Can Melt Your Brain

Full Time Hobby

Release Date: 20 June 2005

Why bother going to an expensive restaurant when you can have delicious home-made food? This seems to be the credo of Viva Voce, an Oregon-based band whose line up consists of a husband and a wife, and whose sound is so dreamy and delicate you can literally use it as a lullaby when you can’t sleep. The magic couple returns with their

second album (and first one for the UK market) and with the kinkiest sounds ever, produced with – read this – kazoos, sirens and even kitchen tools. The psychedelia of tunes like ‘ Center of The Universe’ and ‘Alive With Pleasure’ has in fact caught the attention of many, among which legendary producer Steve Albini. Along with the improvised percussions and the psychedelic guitars, Anita Robertson’s sweet voice emerges as caressing and whispering, and it’s the trademark of Viva Voce’s magical aura. Ones to watch for 2005.
