Naomi Campbell hasn't so much waded as daintily picked her way into the ongoing debate over Kim Kardashian and Kanye West being featured on the cover of Vogue. The fashion magazine's choice to feature the reality television star and her rapper fiancé on its cover had been met with a mixture of applause and derision from around the world.

Vogue editor Anna Wintour made sure to shoot down the rumours that Kanye had bought their way on to her magazine's cover, by stating in no uncertain terms in her cover letter that this was not the case. "My opinion is that [the cover] is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancée on Vogue's cover," wrote the 64 year-old editor-in-chief.

"He did nothing of the sort. The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn't true," Wintour added.

Since the editor ruled out bribery by West, many critics of the couple have focussed on whether the celeb pair were deserving of their own Vogue cover, which is regarded as a prestigious accolade in the fashion world.

One of those to have voiced their opinions publically, albeit tactfully, was 43 year-old supermodel Campbell, who appeared in an interview with Australia's The Morning Show this week. "What do you think of Kim and Kanye's new Vogue cover, given that you have been on the cover yourself countless times?" one of the talkshow hosts asked. After a brief pause, Campbell replied demurely "I do not want to comment," via E! News.

When quizzed as to why by the Aussie hosts, Naomi let out a long laugh before saying "Because I'm a fashion model and I've been working for 28 years, and when you get a Vogue cover, it's a build in your career. It's a stepping-stone to achieve that. And I'm a fashion model, what more can I say?"

"So you think that Kim and Kanye haven't earned the right to be on the cover of Vogue?" she was asked. "Those are your words," Campbell said politely. "I'm being politically correct. That's Anna Wintour's choice to put them on the cover of her magazine, who's to question it?"

Me-ouch! We wouldn't like to find out what Naomi is like when she untactfully disagrees with something. Do you think the supermodel has a point or was Kimye's Vogue cover, as Anna Wintour said, a celebration of "those who define the culture at any given moment." Let us know!
