Natalie Portman's body double scandal has taken a dramatic new turn, after her husband BENJAMIN MILLEPIED insisted that the actress did "85 per cent" of the ballet scenes in 'Black Swan'.
Natalie Portman's body double, SARAH LANE, has had her recent comments rubbished by BENJAMIN MILLEPIED and the Hollywood studio behind, 'Black Swan', reports the UK's Metro newspaper.
Portman scooped the ACADEMY AWARD for 'Best Actress' for her intense portrayal of a New York ballerina, but her professional body double Lane says that actress appeared in only 5 per cent of the movie's dance scenes. She added that the makers of Black Swan had attempted to cover up her contribution in order to increase Portman's chances of winning an OSCAR. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly Magazine, Lane said, "On the full body shots, I would say five per cent are Natalie. All the other shots are me. They wanted to create this idea in people's minds that Natalie was some kind of prodigy or so gifted in dance and really worked so hard to make herself a ballerina in a year and a half or the movie, basically because of the Oscar". However, Portman's husband BENJAMIN MILLEPIED, who worked as a choreographer on the movie, has vehemently denied the claims, saying, "Honestly, 85 per cent of that movie is Natalie".
'Black Swan' film company Fox Searchlights have also come to Natalie Portman defence, saying, "We were fortunate to have Sarah there to cover the more complicated dance sequences and we have nothing but praise for the hard work she did. However, Natalie herself did most of the dancing featured in the final film".
