Neil Patrick Harris may guest star in 'American Horror Story: Freak Show'.

The actor is a huge fan of the TV series and had asked screenwriter and personally asked director Ryan Murphy if there was any way he could be included.

He recently said: ''I wrote a letter to Ryan, asking if I could be in it. And he didn't respond.''

However, Ryan has now written back, saying he has already started work on a role for the former 'How I Met Your Mother' star into the show.

He wrote on Twitter: ''@ActuallyNPH of course you can be on Freak Show! I have a role I think you'd love.''

'American Horror Story: Freak Show' is the fourth series of the show, broadcast on the FX network. It will follow a fictional version of one of the remaining Freak Show businesses of the 50s, based in Florida, and its struggle to stay alive.

The series will include returning cast members Evan Peters, Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe and Jessica Lange.

Meanwhile, Neil is making his move to the East Coast - where he is currently starring on Broadway - permanent, after he and fiancé David Burtka listed their California home for sale.

The couple - who have three-year-old twins Gideon Scott and Harper Grace, born to them via a surrogate - bought their house in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood in 2010 for $2.1 million but have now listed the property for $2.995 million.
