Nelly offered some sound advice to Iggy Azalea whilst being interviewed by the Australian press. Despite the attacks on Azalea from other members of the music industry, including Eminem and Azalea Banks, Nelly believes Azalea should not be discouraged as she's evidently influential enough to be discussed but that she should simply ignore their cruel comments.
Nelly has some good advice for Iggy Azalea and for pretty much anyone else who has been the focus of unpleasant insults and cruel pranks - ignore the haters but appreciate the fact you are influential enough to be discussed.
Nelly has offered some advice to Azalea whilst visiting Australia.
The 40-year-old rapper offered some sound advice to the young star whilst being interviewed by the Australian press on Friday (19th December). 24-year-old Azalea has found herself the focus of unpleasant and often unprovoked comments from other members of the music industry.
Fellow artists who have made remarks include Snoop Dogg, with whom Azalea was engaged in a social media battle with. Eminem also made a series of violent references to female artists, including Azalea, in a song released in November and a fellow female artist Azalea Banks has frequently criticised Azalea in a number of rants which allude to what Banks perceives are racial issues within rap and hip hop, as the Huffington Post reports.
However, Nelly thinks Azalea has nothing to worry about and that the very fact she is being referenced by other rappers is testament to her ability as an artist.
Nelly, as the Australian Daily Telegraph reports, said "Iggy's my girl and Em (Eminem) is a great artist. Listen, if you are big enough that Eminem is talking about you, he is mentioning your name." Azalea, Nelly continued, "has always been cool with Nelly. I was there when she was getting started and starting her recordings and stuff."
Nelly flew to Australia on Thursday (18th December) in order to prepare for eight concerts in the country. Nelly will be headlining the concerts alongside Lupe Fiasco and B.o.B. Nelly is in Australia for two days in order to fly back to the US to celebrate the holidays but he will begin performing on 8th January in Sydney before spending the next eight days on tour.
Azalea was offered advice by Nelly whilst he was visiting her home country of Australia.
