The producers of smash Netflix hit ‘The Crown’ are poised to choose Olivia Colman as the replacement for the departing Claire Foy for the upcoming third and fourth series, it has been widely reported.

The acclaimed ‘Broadchurch’ and ‘The Night Manager’ star, 43, is to step into the role of Queen Elizabeth II in the Netflix series for its third season, as the narrative moves closer to the present and the character of the Queen requires an older actor.

‘The Crown’ is a dramatisation of the Queen’s engagement to Prince Philip and then telling the story of her reign, and the third and fourth series are set after 1963. Colman is so far the only confirmed cast member for the new series, but Matt Smith, who plays Prince Philip, is also set to be replaced with an older actor.

Powerful forces are at work in a new preview clip for the second season of 'Stranger Things', as it's revealed those in positions of authority are doing everything they can to find talented youngster, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). Though Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) is interrogated by the adults in the clip, he refuses to give them any information that may aid their search, but at the end of the 30 second teaser, they quickly realise that their hunt may already be coming to an end...

Exactly how Eleven will play into the new season remains to be seen, but from the previous teasers we've seen for the batch of new episodes, it looks like her powers and special abilities are only growing stronger. She could in fact be the key that's needed to deal with the evil that's infiltrated Hawkins from the Upside Down.

Amy Schumer has taken to Instagram to clear up some misinterpretations that have been made after a report concerning the amount she’s being paid to appear in a new Netflix comedy special.

The 36 year old star clarified what was stated in a report by Variety earlier this week, which claimed that Schumer asked for a higher fee to star in a Netflix stand-up comedy special after learning that Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle were each getting paid $20 million for their shows on the streaming service.

She said that, while she did ask for a pay increase on her original $11 million deal for her ‘The Leather Special’, she did not ask to get paid the same amount as Rock and Chappelle – because they’re the two of greatest comedians ever and deserve more, according to her.

'Stranger Things' is without a doubt one of the most talked-about original series to come from Netflix, with Matt and Ross Duffer the brilliant minds behind the show. It's official: the critically-panned Netflix original series 'Gypsy', led by Naomi Watts and coming from creator/writer Lisa Rubin alongside 'Fifty Shades of Grey' director Sam Taylor-Johnson - won't be making a return to the streaming service, after the company pulled the plug on the show following just a single season.

The Coen Brothers are coming to the small screen for the first time with a brand new anthology series for Netflix entitled 'The Ballad of Buster Scruggs'. It is a Western series of six different stories about the American frontier and it's coming next year.

Told through the voices of Joel and Ethan Coen, the show will star Tim Blake Nelson from 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?' as the titular character. The filmmaking duo - who are best known for such movies as 'No Country for Old Men', 'The Big Lebowski' and 'True Grit' - will mark their first TV venture with 'The Ballad of Buster Scruggs', not including the 'Fargo' series which they co-produced.

Two years after he ended his three-decade stint on ‘The Late Show’, the late night TV legend David Letterman is to come out of retirement to host a new talk show for streaming giant Netflix.

According to The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday night (August 8th), the 70 year old presenter has signed a new deal with Netflix to host a six-episode series for the service in 2018.

“I feel excited and lucky to be working on this project for Netflix,” Letterman said in a statement announcing the series this week. “Here's what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first. Thanks for watching, drive safely.”

Bringing an English version of the dark and critically-acclaimed Japanese manga 'Death Note' to Netflix this summer, the streaming service are once again expanded on their slate of original content, with Hollywood star Nat Wolff in the driving seat here as lead character, Light Turner.

A new animated fantasy series from Matt Groening entitled 'Disenchantment' is set to hit Netflix in 2018 and it's chock full of the kind of adult humour you'd expect from the award-winning writer. Who needs 'Game of Thrones' when you've got a colourful world of trolls, ogres and rebellious princesses?

He's the creator of the epic adult cartoons 'The Simpsons' and 'Futurama' but now Matt Groening has a new project coming to life next year in partnership with Netflix. 'Disenchantment' is a twenty-episode adventure about a booze-loving princess called Bean, her best friend Elfo and her pet demon Luci. It's set in the fictional world of Dreamland, and - according to Netflix - features 'ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses and lots of human fools'.

Zooming back to 1984, to the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, Netflix original sci-fi series 'Stranger Things' will be making its return as those who reside there do their best to recover from the shocking after-effects of the Demogorgon and the secrets uncovered at Hawkins Lab. Celebrating the series at this year's San Diego Comic Con, a first look trailer for the show's second season has been unveiled, which you can check out below:

There's a lot to digest in the trailer, with plenty of twists and turns promised as the show continues. With the clear signs that the pop culture references to some of the biggest franchises in the mid-80s will continue, there's even the intro to Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' working to prop up the teaser. The fan-service here is undeniably great.

What do you get when you put together a blind ninja, an incredibly intelligent detective, a bulletproof former criminal and a Kung Fu expert who just so happens to be a billionaire? 'Marvel's The Defenders'; the show which brings outsider heroes Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist into a crime-fighting team like no other for the first time in television history. Launching globally next month on Netflix, the series is one of the most highly-anticipated of the year so far and, with a second full-length trailer dropping for the show at San Diego Comic Con, fans can now see all of the drama below:

The almost three-minute video is an action-packed one and, as the trailer progresses, we hear Sigourney Weaver's character Alexandra tease "the war in New York", whilst a montage of clips see the Defenders face off against all sorts of adversaries. Weaver's character is one that will prove challenging for the Marvel team to take down; as she mentions, she actually sees a lot of similarities in herself and those who oppose her. The only difference in fact is that Alexandra is merely bothered with self-preservation, while the Defenders take into account the lives of those living in New York.

It was a successful day for Westworld and Saturday Night Live as both received 22 nominations each as they led the way at the 2017 Emmys. The popular NBC late-night sketch and comedy programme achieved more nods than it had ever previously done with the huge figure.

The two programmes could not be any more different in style or tone, but it will be the two programmes which lead the way upon the awards in September; Westworld has just finished its huge budget first series, whereas Saturday Night Live has now moved onto a whopping 231 nominations - breaking its own record for most nominations ever at the awards.

The anticipation has been growing, but we finally have confirmation of when Stranger Things will return to our screens. The hit Netflix series has been confirmed for an October 27th release via a poster showing our four main boys looking at an ominous red storm that's forming over the small town of Hawkins, Indiana.

Despite a recent slew of cancellations, streaming giant Netflix have renewed their series 'Dear White People' for a second season, made up of 10 episodes, to premiere next year on the platform. Creator and showrunner Justin Simien announced the news earlier this week, speaking at the Essence Festival.

The show follows a diverse young group of students of colour, who navigate a predominantly white Ivy League college and are forced to deal with the racial tensions that divide and sometimes conquer there. Facing a board that would rather sweep the problems under the rug with as little fuss as possible, the students are sometimes forced to take drastic measures to allow their voices to be heard and to even get a whiff of equality.

There were calls for the one in which viewers see Hannah slash her wrists in the bathtub to be removed from the show, or for stronger warnings to be given for those who may log on to the streaming service and watch the offending episode. When Netflix and Marvel revealed they'd come to an agreement on releasing a slew of collaborative original series, not many people knew what to expect. We've learned that a hacker known as The Dark Overlord is claiming to have hacked the streaming service and to have gained access to all episodes of 'Orange Is The New Black' season 5 - which isn't scheduled to hit the platform until June - and may have already uploaded the first to an illegal file-sharing service.

Now, the hacker is demanding that Netflix pay an unspecified ransom to stop all of the episodes from being uploaded online before the show's official release, with the FBI said to be investigating the situation.

Netflix have certainly found a great show to get everybody talking with '13 Reasons Why', so if that was their aim all along in adapted the Jay Asher-written best-selling novel of the same name, then they've done their job. What they probably didn't want or expect however is the backlash from mental health experts that has occurred since the show's debut.

'Stranger Things' was without a doubt one of the biggest hits and talking points of 2016. Marvel's latest Netflix collaboration 'Iron Fist' has caused quite the stir. Though critics were quick to slam the new series as the first dud to come from the streaming service and comic book company's team-up, viewers across the globe have voted in their numbers, going against what the professionals had to say and landing the show an 84% audience score on reviews aggregate site, Rotten Tomatoes.

Whether it's a lack of action, character development or something else entirely, most criticism can be shrugged off, but a section of the public who didn't enjoy their time with 'Iron Fist' are now accusing those behind the character of 'whitewashing'; a term used to describe when a major release TV series, film or other property uses a white actor in the place of one of a minority that would have been better suited to take the role.
