A third season of mobster drama-comedy 'Lilyhammer' has been confirmed to hit Netflix later this year with filming beginning this month (January 2014).

Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band guitar player Steven Van Zandt has already said that he will definitely be returning to Netflix for another season of the show in between touring and Netflix have been quick to confirm the news. 'We are proud to bring back 'Lilyhammer' for a third season', said Ted Sarandos of Netflixin a statement. '[It] is the type of global show that Netflix members around the world have discovered and love and season three will see that world expand even more.'

The dramedy is based in Lillehammer, Norway and follows the life of former mob underboss Frank Tagliano who has been relocated to the European country in a witness protection scheme after testifying in court against some dangerous people. He has his name changed to Giovanni Henriksen, soon meets a lady and gets her pregnant with twins. However, his new life has not meant a fresh start for 'Johnny' who continues his lawless methods in trying to set up a business.

Last month, Steven Van Zandt revealed the news first in an interview with Rolling Stone. 'The third season is signed', he said. 'I'll be filming a couple weeks, and then I'll split and hang out with Bruce for a while. Then I'll go back.'
