The 2023 Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool at the M&S Bank Arena is being hailed by many as one of the best events in recent years. Eurovision 2024 will be hard to replicate, so let's take a look at everything we know so far about next year's contest.
Where will Eurovision 2024 be held?
The 2024 Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Sweden and hosted by the Swedish public service television company SVT (Sveriges Television).
However, it's currently unclear which city it will be held in and, therefore, which building the Eurovision Song Contest will take place in. The only three cities it can take place with big enough venues are Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö.
Some people agree that it will more than likely be held at the Malmö Arena in Malmö, where the same contest was held in 2013, while others argue that it will more likely be held in Stockholm, at the Avicii Arena.
Both arenas can easily host the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, and we will find out soon which venue will win in its bid to host the event.
There have been rumours that Swedish band ABBA may even make an appearance, which would be a fitting tribute to one of the world's most famous bands, whether that's live (in person) or in digital/holographic form.
There may be slight revisions to the televoting system, and the use of vocal effects may improve. For example, there could be adjustments to how backing singers are used. There will no doubt be several more improvements, which we will just have to wait and see about.
Is anyone taking bets for Eurovision 2024?
No. At the time of writing, there are no licensed online sports betting sites currently taking bets on Eurovision 2024 or offering any Eurovision Odds whatsoever.
However, it is likely that betting markets will soon start to become available as more countries confirm their participation and leak details about their songs.
Which countries have confirmed they will be at Eurovision 2024?
At the time of writing, a total of eleven countries have confirmed they will be at Eurovision 2024. They include the following nations:
● Sweden
● Luxembourg
● Italy
● Norway
● Spain
● Germany
● Netherlands
● Malta
● Finland
● Denmark
● Cyprus
● Ireland
Which other Swedish cities have also expressed interest in bidding?
Apart from Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö, the other Swedish cities that have also expressed interest in bidding to host Eurovision 2024 are Örnsköldsvik, Jönköping, Partille, Södertälje, and Eskilstuna.
Where will I be able to watch Eurovision 2024?
Wherever you are in the world, if you want to watch the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest as it unfolds, one of the best video streaming sites to watch will be YouTube. It will also be available to watch on many local television channels, with more information about the start and finish times available nearer the time.
Final note
It's still far too early to say what else might happen at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest. More information isn't likely to become more widely available until at least after the summer months have ended and as we edge closer towards the end of 2023.
This year's winner was the song 'Tattoo,' performed by Swedish singer Loreen. The host nation will look to equal the record of winning twice in a row in back-to-back years.
The only other countries to have won the Eurovision Song Contest two years in a row are Spain, Israel, Luxembourg, and Ireland. It would be an impressive feat, and with ABBA possibly in attendance, it could end up being an even better show than the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest that was just held in Liverpool.
