Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen fell in love with fashion aged six.

The actresses-turned-designers claim their passion for clothing started when they were jointly cast in the role of Michelle Tanner on family sitcom 'Full House', where their wardrobe consisted of big-name brands like Chanel and Marc Jacobs.

Ashley told Net-A-Porter's magazine The Edit:''We'd be in six-hour fittings three times a week, because we had to wear 12 different outfits.''

Mary-Kate added: ''We were designing clothes for ourselves as we were so petite. So I think that is when we became obsessed with fit, and now the obsession has become a profession.''

The 27-year-old twins have put their child star pasts behind them and forged a new career as successful designers, setting up labels The Row, Elizabeth and James and Olsenboy.

While the girls are grateful their celebrity status has helped make their brand a household name, the identical blondes are hoping to take a back seat in the future.

Ashley said: ''Anonymity is a word we talk about all the time, in life and in clothes. If you are wearing a Chanel jacket and you need an anonymous piece that will show just how special that jacket is, I hope that is what The Row gives you.''
