Mutya Keisha Siobhan could release new music this year and are very ''excited'' about their songs.

The pop group - who were the original line-up of the Sugababes - reformed in 2011 and have been busy in the studio recording tracks for the past few months.

Keisha Buchanan insists she and the other girls are really pleased with the ''sound'' they have been creating and could drop a single before 2012 ends.

Speaking at the Q Awards in London on Monday (22.10.12), she said: ''We haven't actually done any live rehearsals yet but we have been in the studio ... We could maybe have a single out this year and an album next year. We're just really excited about how it sounds. We're getting the right sound for us. Our harmonies together are sounding really great.''

Keisha, 28, admits it has been ''weird'' being back together with Siobhan Donaghy and Mutya Buena because she hadn't seen them for so many years after the pair quit the Sugababes in 2005 and 2001 respectively.

She added: ''For me personally, from the outside, I have never seen Mutya and Siobhan together since we were 15 or 16. To see them years on as grown women talking was just weird. It's been weird adjusting to it. But it's been amazing being back together, and writing together.''

Mutya, 27, added: ''It's been a long time coming and time to move forward. We just want to make music that we enjoy.''

Siobhan, 28, revealed the writing and recording process has been going really well so far and the trio's different influences and musical tastes has led to some interesting songs.

She said: ''It's very eclectic. It's really important for the three of us that we have different influences and it's the blend of that that makes us interesting.''
