Oliver Hudson and his father are speaking again.

The 'Scream Queens' actor and his 'How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days' actress sister Kate Hudson were publicly disowned by Bill Hudson last month following comments they made on social media, but their stepfather Kurt Russell insists the relationship is now on the mend.

Kurt, who has been in a relationship with the two stars' mother, Goldie Hawn, for over 30 years, said: ''I understood Oliver's sense of humour and since then, there's been some nice back and forth between Bill and Oliver and that's nice to see.

''You want people to enjoy life as much as they can.''

And the 64-year-old star believes the row was blown out of proportion.

He added to E! News: ''We live in a world that if you say something or do something, it can be latched onto for 24 hours or 48 hours.''

Bill's dispute with his kids came after Kate paid tribute to Kurt on Father's Day, while Oliver wished his sister a ''Happy abandonment day''.

Speaking afterwards, the musician said: ''I say to them now, 'I set you free'. I had five birth children but I now consider myself a father of three. I no longer recognise Oliver and Kate as my own.

''I would ask them to stop using the Hudson name. They are no longer a part of my life. Oliver's Instagram post was a malicious, vicious, premeditated attack. He is dead to me now. As is Kate. I am mourning their loss even though they are still walking this earth.''
