Peter, Paul And Mary star Peter YARROW showed his support for the Hurricane Sandy relief effort on Tuesday (27Nov12) by performing at a community meeting in New York.

Volunteers from the newly-renamed Occupy Sandy group, which has set up camp across America's East Coast to provide basic needs and hot meals for the victims of last month's (Oct12) superstorm, gathered at the St. Jacobi Lutheran Church in Brooklyn for an update on the non-profit organisation's progress and Yarrow was among those in attendance.

The folk veteran had accompanied his activist daughter Bethany to the meeting and they decided to treat the aid volunteers to a little musical relief at the end of the discussion, with Yarrow performing on his guitar.

The 74-year-old New York native isn't the first celebrity to back the recovery efforts of Occupy Sandy - actress Olivia Wilde and her sister, civil rights attorney Chloe Cockburn, have also been raising awareness about the group via Twitter.com.

Meanwhile, Alicia Keys also performed a special gig in Manhattan on Tuesday as a 'thank you' to first responders and volunteers for their continued efforts in the aftermath of Sandy.
