Star Trek legend Nichelle Nichols was originally slated to play Spock in the hit show.
Nichols, known to millions of 'Trekkies' around the world as Lieutenant Nyota Uhura in the longrunning sci-fi series, has revealed she initially read for the role later made famous by Leonard Nimoy.
And she was also eyeing William Shatner's character Captain James T. Kirk as she was so desperate to be cast in the show.
Nichols tells U.S. TV special Trek Nation, "They gave me a three-page script to read from that had three characters named Bones, Kirk, and somebody called Spock, and they asked me if I would read for the role of Spock. I said to myself, 'I'll take any one of these roles,' but I found the Spock character to be very interesting."
