Newly-single Nicki Minaj has brushed off reports suggesting she has embarked on a new romance with fellow rapper Meek Mill, although she insists she is "not on the market".

The Starships hitmaker recently split from her longtime love Safaree Samuels after more than a decade together, and she was rumoured to have rebounded with Mill after teaming up in the studio for a pair of collaborations.

However, Minaj is adamant her relationship with the Ima Boss rapper is purely platonic.

During a radio interview on America's The Rickey Smiley Morning Show, she explains, "I am not in a relationship with Meek Mill, but I do think he is really really dope (cool) and he is on my album two times and I was a fan of his from before and he was a fan of mine. I don't know where the rumours came from. I don't know who started it."

But Minaj suggests she isn't exactly single either, by adding, "I'm not on the market."

Meanwhile, the hip-hop star admits adjusting to life without Samuels after 11 years together has been tough, but pouring out her emotions on songs like The Crying Game and Bed of Lies for her new album The Pinkprint has been therapeutic.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone magazine, she says, "I had to learn to do something as simple as sleep alone. I struggled with, 'Do I express these feelings (on my album)?' And I decided there's no reason for me to hide. I'm a vulnerable woman, and I'm proud of that."

The Rolling Stone comments emerge days after Minaj and Samuels clashed on social media, after the Mc accused her ex of being ungrateful and reportedly attempting to threaten and blackmail her.

Samuels fired back at Minaj, insisting he was disappointed in her for airing out their issues online in a "ridiculous" rant.

It's not known what sparked the war of words between the former lovers.
