Nicki Minaj is set to star in 'Barbershop 3'

The rapper will co-star in the comedy sequel directed by 'Best Man' filmmaker Malcolm D. Lee, alongside Ice Cube and Cedric the Entertainer.

According to Variety, the 32-year-old pop star will play the part of Draya, the sassy new hairdresser of the beauty shop portion of the barbershop.

Nicki impressed critics last year when she appeared in 'The Other Woman' portraying the assistant to Cameron Diaz's character in the film, which also featured Kate Upton and Leslie Mann.

The original 2002 film 'Barbershop' and its 2004 sequel 'Barbershop 2: Back in Business', grossed a combined $140 million worldwide.

Original stars Ice Cube and Cedric will be joined this time round in the threequel by Regina Hall, Eve and Common.

Nicki's big screen debut came in 'Ice Age: Continental Drift', in which she voiced the character of Steffie, a teenage mammoth.

As yet there is no start date set for filming on 'Barbershop 3'.
