In case you’ve never heard of Nico & Vinz, don’t worry – you’re going to see a lot more of them in the near future, after the Norwegian pop duo stormed the top of the UK charts, making musical history. Five weeks after its release, their single Am I Wrong has settled at Number 1 in the chart. It’s notable because Nico & Vinz are the first Norwegian act to top the chart in almost three decades.

The last to do it were A-ha with The Sun Always Shines On TV, which enraptured British listeners for two weeks in 1986. On this momentous occasion – for them, anyway, Nico & Vinz released a statement thanking their fans for the support.

“Growing up in Oslo, we always dreamed of being at the top of the UK chart,” Nico & Vinz’s Nico Sereba and Vincent Dery told the Official Charts Company. “For this now to be true is completely surreal. We are extremely grateful to you for making that happen and can’t wait to come and play it for you guys live very soon.”

How soon is “very soon” exactly? The duo currently have four gigs scheduled in the US and are yet to announce a UK tour. They released Am I Wrong almost a year ago, back when they were performing under the moniker Envy. They changed it to their first names in January 2014 in order to “connect with [their] fans on a more personal level.” Am I Wrong was released to UK streaming services a little over a month ago and cracked the Top 100 thanks to streaming plays, but it wasn’t until its full-scale release that the track reached number 1.
