Carl Wu. He's the vigilante paparazzi photographer who rides around Gotham City all day on his bike trying to get a killer shot of the biggest celebrities around. This week, being New York Fashion Week, offered Mr Wu plentiful opportunities to snap away on his little bike, though he got a little too close for comfort to one Oscar winning actress.

According to TMZ.com, Nicole Kidman is pressing charges after Carl Wu crashed into her on a bicycle, knocking her to the ground outside the Carlyle Hotel.

Kidman had just returned from the Calvin Klein show - where she mingled with Rooney Mara and Stellan Skarsgard - when she walked towards the entrance of the hotel. Freelance photographer Carl Wu suddenly roared towards her on his bike, tried to hit the brakes, though slammed into the actress sending her crashing to the sidewalk.

Stiletto heels went flying...Carl Wu took a tumble too. There's some hilarious pictures of him doing the rounds, legs flailing, trying to understand what just happened. In fact, it almost captures the perfect, "I'VE JUST RUN NICOLE KIDMAN DOWN WITH MY PUSHBIKE" expression. Paramedics arrived at the scene, though it's unclear whether the Australia actress was badly hurt.

Unsurprisingly, witnesses told TMZ.com that Wu got dangerously close to Kidman and was at fault for the collision. Kidman is quite rightly furious and wants to press charges against the photographer.

Wu is a notorious photographer who's had run-ins with other celebrities including Lady Gaga. He's even got a Tumblr dedicated to him, called "F*ck You Carl Wu."

In 2010, good old Carl was up to his tricks in Boston, allegedly getting into a scuffle with Lady Gaga's boyguards after trying to snap the pop star in a parking garage near the Ritz-Carlton. Wu told police that he was punched by one of Gaga's heavies and thrown to the ground.

Security guards at the hotel said Gaga's guards did push Wu to the ground, but only after the photographer was asked to leave. They said he became confrontational with the bodyguards and was escorted out of the parking area. According to the police report Wu ran down the garage ramp again, still trying to get photographs of Gaga.

In an interview with the Boston Globe, Wu said he suffered a cut lip and injuries to his hand during the incident.

Boston Police spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll said that "in a scenario where it's essentially a he said-she said, the two parties are advised to seek complaints in court if they feel that is necessary." The case went no further.

Last month, high profile actresses Jennifer Garner and Halle Berry testified before the Assembly Judiciary Committee in support of a bill that its supporters say would protect celebrities from harassment by photographers, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

"We're moms here who are just trying to protect our children," said Berry, who has several run-ins with the paparazzi over the past year. She was also caught up in a very public confrontation involving her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry and fiancé, now husband, Olivier Martinez, "These are little innocent children who didn't ask to be celebrities. They didn't ask to be thrown into this game and they don't have the wherewithal to process what's happening. We don't have a law in place to protect them from this," she added.
