This is exactly what happened to unfortunate reporter Cat Greenleaf this week, but to make matters worse, she ended up slapping famous fashion designer Nicole Richie around the face while interviewing her, and knocking a rather expensive pair of sunglasses clean off her head!

Nicole Richie is returning to reality television with a new show for VH1 entitled, #CandidlyNicole, based on her popular twitter feed. The former celebutante turned fashion designer has come a long way since she took on The Simple Life with then BFF Paris Hilton, nearly a decade ago. Indeed the former reality wild child has made quite the transformation in the past few years, into an undisputed fashionista.

Nicole Richie first came to public attention as the sidekick of Paris Hilton on their reality show The Simple Life. Richie was the wittier and more outspoken one with Paris taking on the more ditzy vain role. After five seasons and more than a few rocky off camera moments for the pair’s friendship, the show came to an end in 2007. During the show's run, Richie had become a tabloid fixture thanks to a DUI arrest and a very brief stint in jail, (82 minutes to be exact), but that didn't get in the way of her branching out her career beyind The Simple Life.

Actress Kerry Washington has received the unique honour of being crowned this year's Best Dressed Woman, as chosen by People magazine.

People magazine Executive Editor Elizabeth Sporkin gave out plenty of praise for 2013's best dressed female celebrity. "There has been a trend this year in lady-like fashion and I think she is almost single-handedly responsible for it," said Sporkin.

Anne Hathaway turned heads at the Met Ball 2013 over the weekend, sporting bleached blonde hair! The Hollywood actress certainly embraced the Punk theme of the evening with her dramatic new hair and lacy Valentino dress. Hathaway also opted for heavy eye make-up, a black clutch bag and bright yellow nails. Scottish star Gerard Butler barely recognised the actress when they bumped into each other on the red-carpet.

The Oscar winner wasn't the only celebrity to opt for a dramatic look for the PUNK: Chaos to Couture event, with designer Nicole Richie turning heads with an eccentric silver hairstyle and gothic ensemble. The dress itself was a custom-made creation, with the 31-year-old adding blood red nails and lips and spikey earrings!

Others to undergo transformations included Madonna, Beyonce and Sienna Miller though it was Hathaway who appeared to be a favorite of the fashion journalists. The Guardian's Jess Cartner-Morley wrote of her look, "A true movie star knows how to use the red carpet to make a statement, and that's what Hathaway did in vintage Valentino. First, she turned that poor-little-me Les Mis urchin cut into something vampish and edgy by dying it Debbie Harry blonde. Second, she showed how incredible her va-va-voom body is when she's living on the Fantine diet of teaspoons of baked porridge. Third, she showed that being upstaged by her own nipples at the Oscars has in no way cowed her into making safe fashion choices. Respect."

Nicole Richie is really starting to shed her wild-child past. At the age of 31, the fashion designer, who - let's face it - used to be famous simply for being BFFs with Paris Hilton, has just unveiled a sleek & sophisticated new look and she's even looked into getting rid of her 'tramp stamp' - a tattoo that she got when she was 16.

Chatting to the proprietor of LA's Dr Tatoff tattoo removal studio, Richie asks what the worst tattoo is that he's ever seen and he reveals it's a smiley face on the head of a penis. Richie filmed the experience for her new AOL web series, #CandidlyNicole in which she explains that her tattoo "means a certain thing and I just don't want to be a part of that group." She shows the doctor the cross in her. um. crack before learning about the process of having a tattoo removed. After being told that it would take "the best part of a year" to fully remove the tattoo, she decided not to undergo the procedure. 

So, it looks as though Nicole will just have to distract everybody with her sleek new bob, to make sure they're not looking at any one of her nine tattoos and judging the mother of two on those, instead of her new retro style. At the AOL Digital Content NewFront Launch, she was sporting a new fringe and seventies style bob, reminiscent of her own House of Harlow fashion label.

When you hear the word webseries, you might think of sci-fi or “Dungeons and Dragons”, but Nicole Richie’s new AOL production is more a “back tattoos and Chinese love symbols” kind of deal. The 31-year-old adopted daughter of Lionel Richie is no stranger to reality stardom, but the format of a five-minute web video is something else entirely. Still, she manages to fill the first episode, entirely focused on the removal of her back tattoo, with enough action to keep you (sort of) entertained throughout.

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering exactly how and when Nicole Richie got her first piece of ink, now you can, courtesy of AOL. Spoiler: it was in a shady garage when she was fourteen and the guy asked her friend to hold his gun for him. Such is the thrilling life of celebrity socialites apparently. And now you get to learn all about it from people like Nicole Richie, Sarah Jessica Parker, Hank Azaria, Rocco DiSpirito, Anthony Anderson and Sofia Vergara's younger sister Sandra, in 15 new webshows that AOL is rolling out as part of its original programming this spring. And there are certainly some gems to be found in there. Getting back to Richie, one of the pilot’s more memorable moments comes when she fires out the explanation: "I mean I'm light-skinned for a black person, which I am, but in like the regular world I'm actually olive-skinned."

A giggling Eva Longoria Parker managed to avoid questions about her private life at the 2012 Alma Awards. According to Latino Fox News, the Desperate Housewives star managed to side-step any questions about her blossoming romance with Mark Sanchez. Eva Longoria has recently been pictured stepping out with yet another toyboy; the New York Jets quarterback, Sanchez. And in the scorching 92 degree heat at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, Longoria managed to keep her cool in the face of some tough questioning.

There was no Eva Longoria boyfriend in sight but when she was asked “how did you meet Mark Sanchez and what did you find attractive about him?” she simply “giggled coyly and walked away from the press line.” She may not have answered any questions about her personal life, but Eva’s career has been going from strength to strength, since the end of the long-running Desperate Housewives series. She has already produced the movie ‘The Harvest' and will soon be directing, too. Longoria will be acting as executive producer of new show ‘Devious Maids’ alongside MARC CHERRY and will also be directing a few of the episodes, as well.

Eva was the co-host and producer of the Alma Awards and was particularly enthused about the award that was being given to Christina Aguilera. “Christina does a lot of work philanthropically so we wanted to honor that, she’s awesome,” said Eva, before Aguilera was given her Special Achievement Award that evening. The event was also attended by Jake Gyllenhaal, Nicole Richie and Robert Rodriguez.
