Nicole Richie has been getting fashion tips from drag queen RuPaul.

The 31-year-old designer sat down with the popular cross-dresser at Decades - which is Hollywood's destination for vintage couture and modern luxury consignment - in California and picked up some advice on a range of topics, including how to nail the art of drag slang.

In the mini webisode of AOL series #CandidlyNicole, she said: ''So I need to stop thinking like a short girl and start thinking like a drag queen!''

The 'Supermodel (You Better Work)' hitmaker was keen to take Nicole's plush wardrobe to the ultimate drag level, which would rival the daring ensemble she wore to this year's Met Ball Gala.

After trying on a range of outfits, Nicole got into the swing of things.

She claimed: ''I just don't want to regret that I didn't take advantage of my drag years.''

RuPaul taught the mum-of-two how to stand, pose and walk in style before putting her into a sparkly pink gown, which took her out of her comfort zone.

Nicole said: ''I wouldn't go this sparkly in my real life.''

To which RuPaul responded: ''We don't focus on real life, we concentrate on drag. You're born naked and the rest is drag.''
