Nicole Scherzinger's family have jetted to the UK to support her following her split from Lewis Hamilton.

The 36-year-old singer, who is ''heartbroken and devastated'' after she and the 30-year-old Formula One driver ended their on-again, off-again relationship after seven years of dating, is relieved that her mother, Rosemary Elikolani, and maternal grandmother Mary have flown to London from her native Hawaii to be by her side.

A source close to the former Pussycat Dolls singer said: ''Nicole was really lifted by her family's visit. It was the first time her grandmother had been to visit her in London, and it couldn't have come at a better time.''

The brunette beauty is also trying to distract herself by focusing on her role in the West End revival of 'Cats' in the West End.

The insider told the MailOnline: ''She's been throwing herself into work for the past few weeks and it's been a real tonic.''

Nicole was said to have ended their relationship after a string of rows about their future over the festive period, but the source insists their latest split was ''a mutual decision.''

The friend explained: ''The long distance kept them apart for long periods of time. They both spent most of their time alone because they were in different countries all the time.

They both care about each other deeply, and really wanted this to work out.''

But it seems the duo might rekindle their romance again in the future.

Another source said: ''It's been seven years now, and it's always the same reason that splits them up. Love always brings them back together.''
