‘The Vampire Diaries’ former star Nina Dobrev is “in talks” to feature in the rumoured re-boot of cult sci-fi movie Flatliners, according to new reports.

Movie news website Deadline claims that the 27 year old actress, who played the role of Elena Gilbert for six seasons of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ until last year, is negotiating with Sony about landing the role of Marlo, described as an “overachiever at the top of her class” in a reported re-make of the 1990 thriller. If successful, she’ll be joining Ellen Page and Diego Luna in the film.

Ok, so the romance at Comic-Con is definitely secondary to the first order of business, which is always nerding out. But when Orlando Bloom and Nina Dobrev are seen attending several parties together and, according to the Daily News “getting cozy” with each other, you can bet it’s going to generate headlines for at least a couple of days afterwards.

Was Orlando Bloom romancing a new lady at Comic-Con? Reports point to "yes".

So, are they or aren’t they? Well, obviously we don’t know, because as famous as they are, both Bloom and Dobrev have the right to their privacy, as well as very clever publicists, capable of manufacturing any kind of impression about their clients.

In 2009, The Vampire Diaries launched on the CW as what looked like a Twilight clone in series form. Based on L. J. Smith's young-adult novels, the series centers on a teenage girl, who catches the attention of two vampires and subsequently has to navigate the complexities of love, family ties, death and the supernatural. At first glance, it sounds very Twilight-ish, especially considering that the series was launched slap bang in the middle of vampire mania. Last night marked the show's 100th episode with a loyal audience and a seasoned cast of stars.

Even the show's stars never anticipated such a lasting success.

Season 5 ratings average 3.5 million viewers per episode, but that doesn’t account for TVD’s strong social media presence. With nearly 18 million Facebook fans and 420,000 Twitter followers (more than 17 million if you count the cast's and producers' followers), it ranks as the fourth most socially active production on TV, after American Idol, The Voice and The X Factor, according to Trendrr, and it's seen in more than 180 countries. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the TVD cast and crew talked about the show’s lasting success. Apparently, the road from page to screen was long and filled with hurdles.

People's Choice Selects Victors: This week saw the annual People's Choice awards handed out and what an evening it was. Hosted by the stellar Two Broke Girls' Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings, the audience were kept laughing whilst a slew of gongs were distributed to the year's finest figures in popular culture. Sandra Bullock emerged as the star of the evening after she won four awards for her roles in Gravity and The Heat, not including the overall film win for the space thriller. The evening also brought tears, drama and scandal as former Vampire Diaries couple Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder hinted during their acceptance speech that things are still very amicable between them whilst singer/actress Jennifer Hudson welled up with emotion when she was honoured with a 'favorite humanitarian award.' The Nina Dobrev/Ian Somerhalder situation is strange and complicated – they know it, the tabloids know it and the audience at the People’s Choice awards on Thursday also knew it. When the former couple walked out on stage to accept their award for Best Chemistry, it could have been very awkward. The Vampire Diaries actress Nina Dobrev is the latest high profile support of President Obama's healthcare plans, posing topless with a strategically placed cardboard sign to encourage fans to "get covered."

Dobrev, who says without the insurance "you're naked," praised her homeland of Canada for being at the vanguard of "healthcare for all." The 24-year-old also provided a link to the enrolment site.

The Vampire Diaries star was only covered by a card that read #getcovered, a reference to President Obama’s ‘Affordable Care Act’.

The 24 year-old actress wanted to make the American public more aware of the healthcare benefits the new federal statute provides, as it makes health insurance affordable and accessible to those who may not be able to afford it.

Nina Dobrev attempted to shed some light on the Affordable Care Act through her Instagram account recently, by shedding her clothes and baring all in the name of Obamacare. With only a cardboard sign that read "#getcovered" covering her modesty, the Vampire Diaries actress did her bit in helping Americans become more aware of the healthcare benefits awarded to them thanks to the new piece of legislation.

The 24-year-old Canadian used the topless shoot to highlight the new bill, which aims to introduce accessible and affordable health benefits to millions of Americans who may otherwise not have health insurance. Her hashtag-featuring photo was accompanied by the caption: "Im Canadian. We have healthcare for all. Shocker: Fifty Shades of Grey reinforces the problem of abuse against women, new research has shown. Nope, it seems EL James' novel - the fastest selling paperback of all time - cannot be regarded simply as "erotic fantasy."

Amy Bonomi, a professor at Michigan State University, and two former colleagues from Ohio State University undertook an in-depth study of the book's first eight chapters and found that "emotional abuse is present in nearly every interaction."

They found that the book, dubbed "mummy porn," included a number of examples of "intimate partner violence", including intimidation, isolation, stalking and humiliation.

The Teen Choice Awards are an annual event held to celebrate what teenagers think deserves recognition from the world of film, TV, fashion and music. It was first held in 1999 and has gradually grown increasing popular with the passing years. This year, according to the Teen Choice Award Website, over 150 million teenagers voted on the various categories.

Several celebrities have been coming in with reports that Jack Nicholson, the man we all know and love from his numerous screen roles, might not be so lovable after all. One woman to feel the wrath of Nicholson was TV presenter and overall triple threat Maria Menounos, when she reportedly got on the wrong side of one of his “moments” during an LA Lakers Game at Staples Center.

“I get booted!" she revealed on Conan. "These guys come and pull us out of courtside. I’m like, ‘What is going on?’ ... I’m like hiding out of this hallway, and all of a sudden Jack Nicholson comes out of the bathroom, and he’s like, 'Hee hee hee.'"

Ian Somerhalder, one of the favorites to play Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, has hinted that his ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev was to blame for their recent split. The couple called it quits after several years together, with sources confirming the news to People magazine.

The pair were only spotted together in April, taking their cat to the vet late at night. Somerhalder, 34 and Dobrev, 24, kept their romance secret during the early days as a couple, mainly because they were co-stars on the hit CW show Vampire Diaries. "I didn't want to be dating one of my costars," Dobrev told Seventeen last fall. "My goal on the show was to be professional. But sometimes you can't help who you have a connection with, and you can only fight it for so long - which I did for a really, really long time."

Though no reason has been given for the split, Somerhalder hinted that it was Dobrev who ended the relationship in a Twitter post this week. Quoting playwright Lillian Hellman, the actor told followers, "A THOUGHT FOR TODAY: People change and forget to tell each other."
