Doing what he does better than virtually every other musician except his own brother, Noel Gallagher has sounded off about the state of the world in an interview – including lashing out at Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, whom he branded “a communist… f*** him”.

Renowned for giving tonnes of great copy to interviewers, the 50 year old former Oasis songwriter is promoting his third High Flying Birds album Who Built the Moon?

He sat down with Paste magazine this week, and when asked about his political views, he had a pop at Donald Trump, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un and British Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn.

“And Trump’s a…a…I’m not even going to name him. But they don’t affect my life. Well, Donald Trump, maybe, because his views on the environment are pretty f**king scary, and that will affect my children. But politicians? They’re f**king idiots. They’re economists - that’s all they are. They’re f**king full of shit, and I should know because I’ve known quite a few of them.”

However, asked about Corbyn and his continued survival as Labour leader, and the surprise general election result that saw Labour perform much better than expected, Noel replied: “F*** Jeremy Corbyn. He’s a communist.”

Famously, Gallagher attended a drinks reception at 10 Downing Street in the summer of 1997, weeks after Tony Blair had taken power in that year’s general election, with Gallagher having publicly backed New Labour along with many of Britpop’s leading lights.

The singer has previously spoken in disparaging terms about Corbyn and the Labour Party under him. “The Tories don’t care about the vulnerable, and the communists don’t care about the aspirational,” he said earlier this year.

Elsewhere in the Paste interview, he said that he does not watch the news because is “boring… if the world is going to end, I don't want to know about it. I don't want to watch the run-up to it. If the sky is going to catch fire because some little, fat North Korean idiot flies a rocket into it, let it f***ing end. I don't want to know about it. I'd rather be doing something else.”

Recently, he was also asked for his take on Brexit and the aftermath of the 2016 referendum. “I can’t believe there’s so much noise about it. You know what I mean? It was put to the people as a vote. The people voted. That’s democracy. F***ing get over it.”
