The second annual BBC Music Awards will play host to an impressive list of performers at the end of the year, with One Direction, Ellie Goulding, Little Mix and Mumford & Sons among the confirmed acts.

The ceremony, which is being held at Birmingham’s Genting Arena on December 10th, is in its second year after the inaugural awards were held in 2014 at London’s Earl’s Court. Just like last year, the evening will be hosted by Fearne Cotton and Chris Evans and broadcast on BBC One, and the radio stations 1 and 2. More than 10,000 tickets are currently on sale to members of the public.

Jess Glynne will be coming back to the awards for a second year in a row, and she said to the BBC in reaction to the news of her live performance: “I was there last year at the inaugural awards, performing with Clean Bandit, and it was a great night, with a brilliant performance from Ed Sheeran among my personal favourites.”

Evans, also the new ‘Top Gear’ presenter, said: “We had such a blast last year so I can't wait to get back on stage and relive this amazing musical year of 2015.”

Last year, the awards saw Pharrell Williams take home two prizes, for Best International Artist and Song of the Year for the ubiquitous ‘Happy’. Ed Sheeran scooped British Artist of the Year, while Catfish & The Bottlemen won Best New Act. This year, a fifth category will be added for Best Live Performance, given to the artist who has given the “stand out live moment” on the BBC in 2015.

In the run-up to this year’s ceremony, the BBC will also be hosting a handful of small events across Birmingham in order to provide a platform for the city’s music scene.
