The boyband is going on hiatus following the release of their new album next year (16), and their final show before the long break was expected to be the last night of their On The Road Again tour in Sheffield, England on 31 October (15).

However, they have now announced they will perform for fans one more time before the extended time off, by hitting the stage for the BBC Music Awards show at The Genting Arena in Birmingham, England on 10 December (15), six weeks after the tour ends.

The Drag Me Down singers previously announced they will be taking a break from touring and recording together in 2016 after releasing their new album, Made in the A.M., in November (15).

The boss of U.K. TV series The X Factor, Simon Cowell, has previously insisted he wants the band to take their final bow on the show that discovered them in 2010.

"I would like their last performance before their break to be The X Factor final, 100 per cent. I think they will come on the final of X Factor this year," Simon told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper.

One Direction will join Mumford & Sons, Ellie Goulding, Hozier, Jess Glynne and Little Mix on the bill at the BBC Music Awards, according to Billboard.com.
