Oprah Winfrey has pulled out of talks to make her Broadway debut in the revival of 'Night, Mother because she found the play too depressing.
The media mogul was considering starring in a new version of Marsha Norman's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, opposite five-time Tony Award winner Audra MCDonald.
However, Winfrey has now decided against joining the cast, in which she would have played a mother who attempts to talk her adult daughter out of killing herself.
Winfrey tells The Hollywood Reporter, "I just didn't want to be in the space of suicide every night for six months. I'd like something with a happier ending."
The Tv star, who won an Oscar nomination for her role in 1985 film The Color Purple, is now said to be considering two other unnamed stage projects.
