Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr have announced that they are no longer together, ending a six year relationship that saw them marry and have one child together, 2-year-old Flynn. In a statement released through E! News, a spokesperson for Bloom spoke on behalf of the two to explain the reason behind their unexpected split.

The two seemed to be in a flourishing relationship

"In a joint statement, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr have announced that they have been amicably separated for the past few months," the rep said. "After six years together, they have recently decided to formalize their separation. Despite this being the end of their marriage, they love, support and respect each other as both parents of their son and as family."

The actor and the Australian Victoria's Secret model seemed to be one of the more stable couples in Hollywood, with no cracks appearing on the surface fo their 3-year marriage. Their split reminds us that no one really knows what goes on behind closed door, but does bring into question whether the pair would have split earlier had it not been for Flynn, or similarly whether they would have stayed together longer for the sake of Flynn had they not been rich and famous.

The 36-year-old began dating 30-year-old Miranda back in 2007 and announced their engagement in June 2010, tying the knot a month later. Less than a year later, on 6 January, 2011, their first and only child was born and since then the couple seemed as though they were only ever getting stronger in their relationship. Here's hoping a reconciliation might still be on the cards.
