Bosses at America's VH1 network were planning to revive the docu-series featuring Black Sabbath rocker Ozzy Osbourne and his eccentric family 10 years after it came to an end, but they have now announced they are no longer moving forward with the project.

Susan Levison, executive vice president of original programming and production at VH1, tells The Hollywood Reporter, "We are no longer talking to the Osbournes about a series; that's not going to happen.

"We wish we could have worked it out, but it just didn't come together for us. The family has been absolutely lovely and we wish them the best. We'd love to figure out a way to work with them at some point in the future."

The original series, which also starred the rocker's wife Sharon and their kids Kelly and Jack, ran for four seasons on VH1's sibling network MTV and was one of the highest-rated programmes on the channel.

The planned new mini-series was said to be comprised of eight episodes, giving fans an update on the family members' lives since 2005.
